The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

I know it seems fast, but I just finished another book. It was a short book, and I just couldn’t put it down until I finished it. The book is The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith. I absolutely loved this book. I loved the story, I loved the idea, I loved the way it was written. Unfortunately for most of you, you won’t be able to read it until February because it’s a BBYA book, and it’s a galley. But you just have all that more time to look forward to it 🙂

So, what is The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight about? It follows the story of a boy and a girl that meet in an airport and the events that follow in the following 24 hours. The girl, Hadley (I love that name, so original), is flying to London for her father’s wedding, and she is the one narrating the story. Oliver, the boy, is from London, and is flying back for a different wedding. They meet because Hadley misses her original flight, because she was running late and is absolutely dreading going to her father’s wedding. Her new flight happens to be the one that Oliver is on, and their seats are right next to each other. They talk the whole way to London, and they find that there might be something between them. It was like they were meant to be together. You’ll have to read it to find out what happens when they actually get to London.

Yes, this book is a little predictable. You could kind of tell what was going to happen next, but I still loved it anyway. I loved that the boy was British (I’m a sucker for British guys….) and that they were going to London, which is somewhere that I want to go. And I thought that both characters were very believable. You learned more about Hadley than you did about Oliver, but you still felt like you knew both characters personally by the end of the story. I also liked how Jennifer Smith gave the back story of Hadley’s relationship with her father. It followed a logical pattern of thinking, giving the story an even more realistic feel.

Above all, I think the thing that I loved most about this book was how adorable the story is. When something happens that pushes Hadley and Oliver a little closer together, your heart melts. And once you’re all finished reading the book, you realize what a good mood it has put you in. It makes you believe a little more in love at first sight, in soul mates. It’s also something that you can’t help but wish would happen to you, this perfect little story of love. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight is a lovely little read, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a book that will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Next I will be reading I Am J by Cris Beam. This one should be quite a lovely read
