Ron Weasley is known for his sidekick-humor charm in the movies. However, in the books, he’s much more than just a supplement to Harry’s hero qualities and Hermione’s intelligence–Ron is there through thick and thin. Not only that, Ron is incredibly witty in the books, and many of his best moments are overlooked in the movies. Here’s a playlist dedicated to the wonderfully witty, Ron Weasley.
“King and Lionheart” by Of Monsters and Men
Though “Weasley is our king” was originally made up by the Slytherins to taunt Ron, the Gryffindors eventually take it on as their own when Ron is the reason they win the quidditch cup.
“Ho Hey” by The Lumineers
Ron isn’t quite sure where he fits in, and is constantly overshadowed by his best friend. But by the end, I think he knows where he belongs.
“Friend, Please” by Twenty One Pilots
The first line of the song speaks to Ron’s character: “I feel for you, but when did you believe you were alone?”
“Lean On Me” by Bill Withers
Ron is there for anyone and everyone he cares about, no matter what. He’s a steadfast friend that you can always count on.
“Underdog” by Imagine Dragons
Ron is often considered the underdog, not possessing as much magical talent as Hermione or Harry. But, he always pulls through, for those he cares about.
“Laughter Lines” by Bastille
Ron’s humor helps get him, Harry, and Hermione through their times of darkness; you can definitely tell that there’s a little bit of Fred and George in him.
“I’m a Mess” by Ed Sheeran
As we near the end of Deathly Hallows, Ron becomes unsure of his and Hermione’s relationship, unsure that they will ever actually destroy all of the deathly hallows. So he leaves.
“Little Lion Man” by Mumford & Sons
This song also speaks to the problems that Ron made up, because of the horcrux.
“Lights” by Ellie Goulding
Ron follows the light to get back to his friends, and he’s the light in the times of darkness.
“I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers
Ron proves in Deathly Hallows that he would walk across the world to find Hermione (and consequently, Harry) again.
Enjoy!
