Every year, everyone eagerly anticipates the release of fall drinks at Starbucks, and quite honestly, it seems to come earlier and earlier. I mean, this year, they didn’t even wait for September. Whether or not you’re a pumpkin spice fan, fall drinks just have a cozy vibe, a vibe that just fits for this time of year. Bring on rainy days, cozy blankets, and warm cups of coffee.
While I was at work today, I was thinking about books that I would pair with some of my favorite fall drinks. It would be a fun way to recommend books to people that’s a little outside the box. When you curl up with your favorite drinks this fall, try checking out some of these great reads.
Pumpkin Spice Latte: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Let’s be honest; when you think of young adult books, this is probably one of the first ones you think of. The recent success of young adult movie adaptions is attributed to the success of The Fault in Our Stars movie. John Green is a very well-known face in the young adult community. Highly popular drink = highly popular book.
Salted Caramel Mocha: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
For me, salted caramel mocha is probably the best drink of fall, just because salted caramel is absolutely one of my favorite flavors. I was looking for a comforting, light-hearted read to match this comforting drink. Even though I haven’t read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (I’m still waiting on a copy from the library), this seems like the perfect book to bring cheer to any rainy fall day.
Pumpkin Spice Chai: Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
A pumpkin spice chai is a little bit spicy and a little bit sweet, which made me think of Simon from Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. His emails conversations with blue make your heart melt while the antics with Martin add a little bit of spice to the story. Another perfect book to curl up under a blanket with.
Apple Chai-der: Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Similar to a pumpkin spice chai, an apple chai-der is a little bitter sweet; and what’s more bittersweet than Eleanor & Park? Rainbow Rowell is the queen of writing adorable romances, but she also nails the emotional side of things. Eleanor & Park is the perfect combination of these, and reading this will probably make you want to pick up all her other books immediately.
Caramel Apple Cider: Harry Potter by JK Rowling
A classic for a classic. I can’t really create any fall reading list without including Harry Potter. I’m really hoping to be able to fit in a re-read sometime in October, but I have to get through an impossibly long TBR list in preparation for the holidays. But Harry Potter is really the ultimate comfort read for me. So fall is really the perfect time for a re-read.
