I meant to post a review yesterday (as Thursday is typically review day), but the day just got away from me. Thus, you get one today! Following up on last weeks’ review on the Throne of Glass series, I finished the final book! Since I’m not quite done with my next NetGalley book yet, Kingdom of Ash will be my topic this week.
Kingdom of Ash is the final book in the Throne of Glass series; Aelin, Rowan, Aedion, Chaol, and Dorian are all separated, attempting to find a way to stop Erawan and his dark Valg army before they completely take over Erilea. But Maeve makes everything more difficult, and separated, they’re not the match for Erawan that they could be. Can they band together before it’s too late?
With so many loose ends to tie up, it’s not surprising that this book clocks in at almost 1,000 pages (980 to be exact). And quite honestly, every single one of those pages are needed. Maas has introduced such an intricate net of characters that no second of this book is boring. Switching between everyone also gives us a unique view of everything that is going on. We know who’s fighting what battles, who’s desperate for help, who’s helping to get the advantage against the Valg. Despite the length, it’s action packed, and you’ll be hanging onto the story until the very last page.
I definitely flew through this book, and the rest in the series, honestly. I think the entire series merits a re-read, because there are just so many little details included in each book. Though some of the events seemed a bit too convenient, I almost liked that they connected so well. It makes for a good ending to such a long series; no loose ends were left once you finished the book. Maas created such an intricate world; I’m excited to see what she comes up with next.
