It’s that time of year where everyone makes goals and sets their sights on the new year; I suppose I’m no different! Since I had such a successful reading year this year (I’m two away from getting to 150 books! I can definitely do it), I’ve really been thinking about what I want to achieve next year with my reading. I am going to be starting a library science program, so I might not have quite as much time to read as I did this year, but I still plan on making it a great year!
I achieved most of my reading goals this year:
Read 75 books: check
Write blog posts more consistently: check
Write more book reviews: check
Read 10 nonfiction books: not quite
While I slacked on the nonfiction reading (I’ll work on it this year), I think my year was successful overall. Plus, I redesigned my blog and launched an Etsy shop; a busy year for me! What can I do to top it this year? Let’s see what I have in store!
Goodreads
I read too many books to review every single one of them on my blog (I would basically be writing a review every single day), but I think I can achieve writing a review for all of them on Goodreads, even if it isn’t super long! Goodreads is such an excellent platform for promoting your favorite books, and I hope that reviewing all my books will help at the end of the year to pick out my top ten (a post I’m also working on, but it’s hard to narrow down my favorites!).
P.S. If you have a Goodreads account, come and be my friend!
Books Read
My reading goal changed halfway through the year this year from 75 books to 150, but I think 150 might be a lofty goal for 2019. With working full time and starting a grad program, I won’t have quite as much time to read as I did this year. But a library program will consist of reading books, right? So 100 should still be doable. Right?
Nonfiction Reading
Reading more nonfiction has been a pretty consistent goal for me over the past few years, but I’ve never been very good at doing it. There are just so many other fiction books that takeover so that I read them instead. I read four in 2018: Mind Hunter, Hunger, Modern Romance, and March. Which isn’t bad! I’m going to set what I think is a more achievable goal: five books. So if you have any nonfiction recommendations, send them my way!
Graphic Novels
One of my other goals for 2018 was to read through old Spider-Man comics to catch up to the current story line; I kind of fell way behind. I’ve been binging them the last week since I saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but I’m still behind. I’d like to expand my repertoire in 2019 as well. There are other series that I would love to get to, and since downloading a few comic apps on my phone, I think this will make this goal more achievable.
I have a few other goals for 2019 as well, mostly about getting my Etsy shop more out there, so I think it’s going to be a good year. Here’s to a year of great reading!
