Down the TBR Hole: August Edition

Down the TBR Hole

Down the TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia over at Lost in a Story to work through that TBR list. I started last month with 8 books, and I think I’ll stick to that for the time being. Maybe it’ll change in the future, but 8 is good for now!

The meme goes like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf
  • Put in ascending order by date added
  • Take the first 5 or so books (8 in my case)
  • Read the summary
  • Decide: stay or go?

I definitely think I’ve added even more books to my TBR this month than last month. That’s because I’ve been making it a point to read more blogs! I set aside time each week for it, and I’ve really been enjoyed it. But don’t worry. I’m making time for book reading too! (Check out last month’s TBR Hole here!)

The TBR Hole

Dear Mr. Potter: Letters of Love, Loss, and Magic by Lily Zalon

In my defense, this isn’t necessarily a book that you’d read straight through? Though you could if you wanted, I guess. It’s a collection of letters from Harry Potter fans about how the book changed their lives. I actually own it, and have read pieces of it, so it stays.

Harry Potter: Film Wizardry by Brian Sibley

This is another that you wouldn’t read straight through. I’m sensing a theme this month. Once again, I do own this book, but I don’t think I’ll read it all the way through. Removing it from my to-read list!

Dead to You by Lisa McMann

I think I added this after I read McMann’s Wake trilogy, which was phenomenal. I remember a little about this one: Ethan was abducted at 7, returned to his family at 16. Weird things ensue. The premise still intrigues me, so this one stays.

The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe

After reading the summary, I don’t remember anything about this book or why I added it to my to-read list. Because of this, no need to keep it, right? It leaves.

The Piper’s Son by Melina Marchetta

This one I remember adding after reading Finnikin of the Rock, a sequel to Saving Francesca. It still sounds interesting, so it’s going to stay for now!

Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

This one looks like a fun romance, from the people that wrote Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. A fun book to keep around if you need something fun! It stays.

A + E 4ever by I. Mercy

A graphic novel about two misfits that find each other, in the vein of Rainbow Rowell. Quite honestly, why haven’t I read this yet?! I need it now.

With or Without You by Brian Farrey

Evan and Davis are outcasts often beat up for being different, specifically being gay. This sounds like something I’d read, but I’m feeling lukewarm. I’ll get rid of it for now.

Stay or Go?

Out of the 8 books:

3 are leaving

3 are moving to eventually

2 are staying

Have you read any of these? Do you agree with my decisions? Let me know!
