I’ve been actively using NetGalley for about a year now, and I love it! At first, I requested too many books (I think), but now I’m pretty good at keeping up my ratio. Trying not to request too many books is difficult, though. There’s so many I want to read, but I just don’t have time to.
Today, we’re going to talk about NetGalley! I found this book tag from Kirsty at The Bibliophile Girl and thought it sounded like fun. The rules:
- Link back to the tag’s creator Kourtni over at Kourtni Reads
- Thank and link back to the person who tagged you.
- Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!
NetGalley Book Tag
1. Auto-Approved: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they’re about?
Just one author?! Oh man. As far as NetGalley goes, we’re going to go with Shaun David Hutchinson. I’ve requested two of his books so far and got approved for both (like The Past and Other Things That Should Stay Buried)! Score.
2. Request: What makes you want to request a book that you see on NetGalley?
Three things: author, cover, synopsis. I pretty much exclusively request YA books on NetGalley (should I request others??), so I liked to browse in that category. Outside of authors I already know, I’m always drawn in by the cover. If the cover looks interesting, I’m more likely to look at it.
3. Feedback Ratio: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?
So far, yes! I mostly request stuff I know I’m probably going to like, so I’m more likely to to review them on the blog. That might change if I start requesting more widely, though.
4. Badges: If you could create your own badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?
Umm…most young adult books reviewed? I probably don’t review at a fast enough rate to make it, but it would be fun nonetheless. I’d wear that badge with pride.
5. Wish for It: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?
Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell! But I don’t think ARCs exist for it yet. I’ll definitely wish for it on NetGalley, though.
6. 2018 NetGalley Challenge: What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?
The last book I reviewed was The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Harmen, which I actually just reviewed yesterday! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

I love me some Shaun David Hutchinson and eventually want to read all of his books! It’s so good that you review everything and keep up with it as well. I recently saw the cover for Wayward Son drop and everyone is going crazy over it. Love the tag 😀

I’m only one or two shy of reading all his books, and I’ve loved every one so far! He never disappoints. Thank you! I try to schedule things out to keep up with them.
Wayward Son is sure to be excellent! Carry On was so great, and I just can’t wait for the sequel. 🙂
