Top Ten Tuesday: Audiobook

Today, we’re talking about audiobooks! I love a good audiobook. My love for these has grown exponentially over the past year. Honestly, it’s so easy to be productive while you’re listening to books. Also, it was much easier to digest Game of Thrones. The books are too dense for me to read, so it’s so much easier to listen to.

Top Ten Tuesday is currently run by Jana over at The Artsy Reader Girl. Last week we talked about Spring TBRs, and this week is a freebee, as long as you focus on audio in some way. Since I haven’t talked much audiobooks on here, now is as good of a time as any.

10 Most Recent Audiobook Listens

Ship of Theseus by V.M. Straka

Narrated by Graeme Malcolm, I just finished this for book club next month! It’s part of the larger book, by J.J. Abrams, and I wanted a good base of the story before reading the extra stuff. I’m excited to see how it all works together

A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin

Narrated by Roy Dotrice (who is phenomenal, by the way), these have taken me almost a year to get through. They’re just so long! But I’m almost done with the last one, just in time for the next season.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

Narrated by the author herself, I will always recommend this as an audiobook instead. Since the focus is slam poetry, the narration just brings something extra to the story.

A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin

A part of my quest to finish the series before the next season comes out. I’m getting there!

A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin

I’m sensing a trend here–I really can’t wait to dive into another series through listening instead of reading!

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

This one maybe took me the longest, though I don’t think it’s the longest book. I had read the book before, though, so maybe that made it go by slower?

Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass by Meg Medina

Narrated by Roxanne Hernandez, this one I couldn’t get into as much. There was just something about the narration that bothered me. The story was good, though!

American Street by Ibi Zoboi

Narrated by Robin Miles, the accents she uses in here are simply amazing. It felt like I was transported there, plus all the characters had different voices. Ah. I loved this one!

A Map for Wrecked Girls by Jessica Taylor

Narrated by Shannon McManus, the back and forth gets a little confusing here when listening, but overall, everything worked together nicely.

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas

Narrated by Phoebe Strole and Brittany Pressley, this one worked well for audiobooks because it really built up the suspense of the story. I listened to it in October, which is also the perfect time for this book!
