It’s finally my time to host Bookending Spring posts, starting with audiobooks for spring cleaning! I’ve been listening to audiobooks for about a year. Though, most of that time was spent on Game of Thrones (the books are so long!). Now, I love audiobooks because I can often multitask while listening to a book!
Bookending Spring is an event created by Sam @ Fictionally Sam and Clo @ Book Dragons. They get a bunch of book bloggers together to create prompts for a season, and it’s been fun! I’ve done a few prompts throughout the month (my last one), and the next four days are prompts that I’ve created! I hope you enjoy them.
Anyway, back to audiobooks! They are my new love, and I can’t believe it took me so long to get into them. Since spring is a time for cleaning, here are some great ones to listen to to help make that cleaning time go by more quickly.
Audiobooks for Spring Cleaning
1. Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart, narrated by Rebecca Soler
Audio is the best way to listen to this book, in my opinion. If you don’t know anything about it, Imogen is on the run from…something. We just don’t know what. The story in the book is told backwards, and you get so immersed in the audiobook. It actually might distract you from cleaning. 😂
2. American Street by Ibi Zoboi, narrated by Robin Miles
Not only is this story really compelling, but Robin Miles nails the voices. She gets all the accents just right, bringing all of the characters to life. It’s actually amazing how quickly she can switch between a Haitian accent and an American accent.
3. A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, narrated by Roy Dotrice
Roy Dotrice also does great voices for the characters within this series. His British accent is also great for the Game of Thrones. I had to listen to the audiobooks because the physical books were difficult for me to follow.
4. The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin, narrated by Robin Miles
While making this list, I totally just realized she does this and American Street! No wonder I’ve been liking this so much. I read The Fifth Season last fall, but I re-listened to it in order to finish the trilogy. If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to. I can’t really explain it, but it’s crafted so beautifully!
5. Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds, narrated by the author
Audio is seriously the only way you should listen to this book, especially because it’s poetry. Jason Reynolds reads it in the way he intended it to be heard, and though it’s short, its powerful. Seriously, this is a masterpiece. What are you waiting for??

I love listening to audiobooks while I clean!! It helps me get less distracted looking at all the stuff I find while cleaning. 😂 I read Genuine Fraud a while back and really loved it. I think I’ll give the audiobook a listen soon. I agree, I think this book would translate really well for audio!!

Yes, me too! Plus, it’s a great way to make the time pass more quickly. Genuine Fraud does translate really well to audio, it really makes the story more immersive. 🙂

omg I loved the audiobook for genuine fraud! Such a fun and interesting way to tell a thriller

Yes, it was so good! And I went in not knowing much about it, so I think that made it even better. 🙂
