For all bibliophiles, there are books that we wish we could read for the first time again. Honestly, there’s really nothing like reading a book you love for the first time. No matter what made you fall in love with the book, the characters, the setting, the story itself, falling in love with a book is magical. Magical!
This prompt for Bookending Spring 2019 is from Clo @ Book Dragons. It’s getting close to the time I get to host, too! Eep! I’m excited and nervous. I guess I should start drafting those soon. But my semester is about to end soon as well. Need to finish papers and projects before I can do that!
For this post, I’m going to limit myself to five. I know, a small number, but a good, round number!
Read for the First Time
Harry Potter series
Is this cheating if it’s an entire series? I’m not sure it matters that much, in all honesty. While I enjoy catching all the extra things when I re-read the books, there’s nothing more magical than reading Harry Potter for the first time. Who’s with me?
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I remember when this trilogy was first being released, and it was all we could talk about in the book club I was in. There was something about it that was so different than the other young adult books available at the time. And the story was so engrossing. Honestly, it still is. I know there are people that really dislike Katniss, but I thought she was a compelling main character. And so many emotions!
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This is one of the bookish tattoos that I have, so it’s no surprise that this is one that I’d like to revisit again for the first time. There’s just something about the way this book is constructed that just pulls you in. Also, I’ve picked a lot of emotional books? Maybe I should try to add a funny one. 😂
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Now, Patrick Ness is one of my favorite authors, but this is the first book I ever read by him. The book is such a masterpiece, between the story and the illustrations. There’s also so much emotion that comes through the story itself. You feel all of the emotions that Conor feels. Ahh. This is probably due for a re-read sometime soon.
More Than This by Patrick Ness
Is it cheating to include two Patrick Ness books on here? Because I am, anyway. This is one of those books that can’t really be classified because it ends up turning into something unexpected. And quite honestly, I would definitely like to go on that journey again.
