I’ve been blogging on and off since my freshman year of college, so I have to use a bit of digging to find the first ten books I reviewed. One of my goals for this year was to review books more consistently, which I have done for the most part! I’m keeping up with my NetGalley books and reviewing books that we get in at work.
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently run by The Artsy Reader Girl. The prompts have been a great jumping off point for blog posts lately, especially with school and work making me so busy. It was fun to look back on old reviews this week to see how far I’ve come!
The First Ten Books I Reviewed
1. Geektastic edited by Holly Black
This is a book of short stories from well-known young adult authors. When I reviewed it, I found that it was the perfect mixture of emotions and thoroughly enjoyed the stories included throughout the book.
2. Starlighter by Bryan Davis
This was a book that I found on Amazon back when I had a Kindle, and it was free! I picked it up because who doesn’t love dragons? I think had been a book that was a start of a series, but I never actually finished the series. Maybe I’ll have to revisit it sometime!
3.Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick
I gave this book a scathing review when I read it! Apparently I couldn’t stand the main character when I was reading, plus I was reading it at the same time as Twilight.
4. Fledgling by Octavia Butler
My freshman year of college, I was taking a vampire class, which talked about vampires in film and literature. This was one of the books we read, and I seemed to really enjoy it!
5. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
I loved the concept of this book. It felt so unique at the time that I read it, and quite honestly, it’s still a pretty unique premise. Though dystopian books aren’t as popular as they used to be, I think this one stands the test of time. I’d be interested to see if the book still stands up to a second reading.
6. The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
Oh hey, another dystopian book. Some things never change. 😂 In later years, I have a lot of these included, especially when I was working on my MA thesis, all about YA dystopian books.
7. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
I think I read this because I had wanted to see the movie. Or I saw the movie and then read the book? I can’t really remember. It started off my summer reading at the time, though! The days when I longed to read things for fun, which I do all the time now. For the most part.
8. The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
Though I haven’t read a Rick Riordan in a long time, I still think his books are great for introducing teens to all kinds of mythology. This one was fun because I didn’t know much about Egyptian mythology going in, and I learned a lot throughout the book.
9. The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan
In not surprising Amanda fashion, I finished the second book in the series almost immediately. When I have a lot of time on my hands, I tend to devour books. What can I say?
10. The Chaos by Rachel Ward
This is another dystopian story, though this is a series that I never finished. I do think the last book was eventually published, but I just never ended up picking it up. I’d definitely have to re-read the series before ending it, though, because I just don’t remember anything about it.
