Down the TBR Hole: August Edition

Down the TBR Hole: May Edition

It’s time for the May Edition of one of my favorite memes! Down the TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia over at Lost in a Story to work through that TBR list. I’ve been working through 8 books on my to-read Goodreads shelf. You can see my last post here!

The meme goes like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf
  • Put in ascending order by date added
  • Take the first 5 or so books (8 in my case)
  • Read the summary
  • Decide: stay or go?

I wasn’t on as much of an adding spree lately, so my TBR list isn’t super out of control. But summer is coming up, as are new release. So I expect more will definitely be making their way onto my list! This May Edition is still featuring books from a few years ago.

May Edition: TBR Hole

The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell

I still really want to read David Mitchell’s books someday, though I don’t know when that day will be. They’re on my unreadshelf cart, though! So, they’ll make it there. This one stays.

Reality Boy by A.S. King

This is a backlist A.S. King title that I definitely still need to read. All of her books are surreal in a way that makes you think about the real world, and this is one I need to add to my repertoire. It stays.

Love May Fail by Matthew Quick

I’ve also loved every book I’ve read by Matthew Quick, and I believe that this is his most recently published book? It sounds amazing, so I definitely still want to read it. It stays.

Here I Am by Jonathan Safran Foer

This book may have been added when I first read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which is a work of art on its own accord. While I’m sure this one is just as good, I’m not sure I’m in the headspace for it at the moment. It leaves.

A Life in Parts by Bryan Cranston

Ooo, I added this when this book first came out, but I’m not really in the mood for celebrity memoirs at the moment either. I’m sure it’s a fascinating book, but just not for right now. It leaves.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

I seriously want to read this because I’ve loved all the novels that I read by Gaiman, but I still haven’t gotten to this one. I own it, though! I bout it at a little bookstore somewhere. I’ll get to it eventually.

Into the Water by Paula Hawkins

The Girl on the Train is a fantastic, twisty book, and I’m sure this one is too! It’ll be great to keep in my arsenal for when I need a good thriller, I think. It goes to eventually.

The Princess Saves Herself in This One by Amanda Lovelace

This is one I didn’t realize was poetry when I first added it. 😂 Not that there’s anything wrong with poetry, but you have to be in a particular mood to read it. I’m going to take this one off for now.

Stay or Go?

Out of the 8 books for May:

3 are staying

2 are moving to eventually

3 are leaving

Have you read any of these books? Should I change my mind?
