Continuing the theme of yesterday’s post, let’s talk about binge worthy series! The summer is a great time to blow throw long book series, especially if they’re all published! You can just read one after the other and not worry about having to wait for the next book. Bonus, you’ll know you’ll have a bunch of stuff to read for a while. That means you could probably just stay at the beach all day.
At the end of the summer last year, I actually did this with two different series (that I’ll include here). I timed it perfectly so I actually got to the end of the series by the time the last book was being released. You can’t get any better timing than that, really. No cliffhangers!
Anyway, I tried to pick series that are already finished so you don’t have to worry about cliffhangers either. No waiting, just plenty of reading bliss.
Binge Worthy Series
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
This is also an excellent series if you like the Game of Thrones. Lots of fighting for the throne, magic, and intrigue. You’ll have the characters you root for and the characters that you don’t. Rhodes isn’t afraid to kill off characters, either, much like George R.R. Martin.
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Sarah J. Maas’s famous series concluded in the fall of last year, and honestly, once you pick up the first book, you’ll be hooked until the end. The series is quite an investment, though, but you’ll be sure to be occupied for a while. And in my opinion, this is the better of her two series.
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
Full of magic, mystery, and mythology, this book is as lyrical as any Maggie Stiefvater book you’ll ever read. Plus, there’s a spinoff series coming out this fall, which I’m super excited about! Especially since it’s about one of my favorite characters from the series.
Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman
I just started this series on audiobook and I’m hooked already! The audiobook has a full cast, and it’s amazingly immersive. The books themselves look interesting too, with different formatting which immerses the reader into the story.
Unwind by Neal Shusterman
This is a bit of an older series, but still a good one! Neal Shusterman writes interesting dystopian futures that really make you think about present day. While you’re waiting for the Arc of Scythe to finish up, this is a good series to read before then.
