Today, we’re talking about bisexual and pansexual characters in honor of the last week of Pride Month! Usually, these posts are on Saturday, but there weren’t enough Saturdays for my post ideas. So you get a bonus Wednesday post! I’ve also got some reviews to post by the end of the month, so I better get cracking. š I finished one of the books last night, so I have faith that I can do it.
This series is something I came up with for the month of June; I’ve found some great new reads because of it. You can check out some of my previous posts for the month here!
Bisexual and Pansexual Characters
The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza by Shaun David Hutchinson
I’ve said it before, but this is my favorite Shaun David Hutchinson book. There’s so much discussion of morality and what’s good and bad. And there’s a diverse cast of characters that you can’t help but love.
Wild and Crooked by Leah Thomas
This was a recent review of mine, and it has a pansexual character! or, at least one of the characters says he’s attracted to people no matter the gender. There’s also disability rep, so what’s not to love?
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
In this volume of Creekwood High, we get insight into Leah’s struggles being bisexual and not out to her friends. It’s funny and refreshing, and it’s a fantastic summer read!
Seven Ways We Lie by Riley Redgate
This is a book told in a series of points of view about a potential conflict at a high school. It reminds me a bit ofĀ One of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus, actually. But with pansexual rep!
Odd One Out by Nic Stone
One of the only books on this list that I haven’t read yet, but I lovedĀ Dear Martin so I’m sure I’ll love this one! It specifically examines the intersection of race and sexuality. So there’s lots to love!
Once and FutureĀ by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy
A recent release, I haven’t gotten to this book yet either. But it’s a gender-bent re-telling of King Arthur set in space with LGBTQ rep. What’s not to like?
