Last week, I talked about 2019 releases to watch, and this week we’re talking summer TBR! Though, it hasn’t really felt much like summer here yet. It’s just started getting warmer. And it’s been raining a lot. But that’s okay! It’s mean that I’ve gotten a decent amount of reading done, though not as much as I did in May. This month has felt more hectic for some reason. But never fear! I might actually reach my goal of 100 books by the end of the month. 😂
Anyway, I’ve got a plan for some of the books that I want to read this summer. My TBR, as always, is just growing and growing. But, I guess that’s part of the job of being a book blogger. And there are always new and great books coming out as well. Ah! I just need to become a full-time reader.
I’m not one to really stick to TBR lists; I’m actually really bad at it. But! These are books that I would like to get to sometime this summer, even if other things get in the way first. Top Ten Tuesday is a meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently run by The Artsy Reader Girl. If you haven’t checked out their posts yet, you definitely should! I’ve been doing them since January and have enjoyed each one.
Top Ten Summer TBR
1. Red Rising by Pierce Brown
I finally got the audiobook of this with a leftover Audible credit that I had, so I guess I’m finally going to read it! You know, once I’m done with the Illuminae Files.
2. Dreadnought by April Daniels
Another audiobook that I downloaded on Audible! This is a superhero book, which I’m super in the mood for lately. Because Spider-Man comes out next week!
3. Permanent Record by Mary H.K. Choi
This is an ARC that I got at Book Con, but also a fall release that I’ve been really looking forward to. I was so happy when I got the ARC at Book Con! Can’t wait to dive in.
4. On A Sunbeam by Tillie Walden
I’m including this even though I just started reading it yesterday. It’s been on my TBR for a while though, and it’s a beautifully crafted graphic novel. Probably won’t take me long!
5. Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
Since I’ve gotten into Kristoff’s books in the past year, I actually picked up this entire series the last time that I was at the library. I’ve only heard good things! I’ve been really enjoying Illuminae, so I’m sure these will be excellent too
6. Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff by Amie Kaufman
Along the same lines, I recently obtained this book as well and it’s bound to be just as good as Illuminae. I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed space stories still I started reading it.
7. Educated by Tara Westover
This on is our latest pick for our book club, and though it’s not what I normally read, it’s actually been on my TBR for a while. My best friend read it and told me that I should too!
8. We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
Since we’re on the topic of book clubs, this is the latest pick for the YA Book Club at Barnes and Noble, which I will be running in July! If you’re in the area, you should definitely come!
9. Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner
Another book club pick! This one is the adult BN Book Club pick for July, and though it wasn’t on my radar before, it is now. Yay for reading outside your comfort zone!
10. The Evil Queen by Gena Showalter
This is an ARC that I had picked up at work, and it comes out tomorrow! Another fairy tale retelling that’s supposed to be enjoyable.
