Since I’ve basically flown through the Illuminae Files, this month’s playlist is for Kady Grant! We meet her in the first book, and she’s basically the reason anyone survived the attack on the Alexander. So, she definitely deserves her own playlist! Plus, it’s kind of a pump up playlist, which is the perfect playlist as we head into the heart of summer.
As a side note, I just have to mention that Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out tomorrow! Ah! I’m so excited. I’ll let you all know my thoughts after I see it tomorrow. And let’s be honest, I’ll probably see it more than once. 😂
Anyway, without further ado, a playlist for Kady Grant, a character from one of my favorite reads from last month!
Playlist: Kady Grant
“A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay
For a story that takes place in space, it’s fitting that this is the first song, right? Sets the tone and place for the story and the playlist.
“Nothing Personal” by Stella and the Storm
This seems like the kind of song that Kady would play as she’s working her code to defeat the Beitech team.
“Doom Days” by Bastille
Okay, but this song is perfect for the Illuminae Files in general. Kady’s ready to take on the company that completely altered her life forever.
“Electric Love” by Borns
Fitting because it’s Kady’s love for Ezra that takes her over to the Alexander in the first place, and it’s what helps her to save everyone, basically.
“Gravity” by Against the Current
Another song I think that Kady would play as she’s coding to save the world.
“Gasoline” by Halsey
Kady was ready to burn down the entire Beitech team by the end, and this song fits that feeling, 100%.
“Shake It Out” by Florence + the Machine
A song for Kady to take a moment and gather herself before doing what she knows she has to do.
“Light the Way” by Mikky Ekko
Since no one else will do what has to be done, Kady takes it upon herself to light the way.
“When the Night is Over” by Lord Huron
When everything is over in the first book, there’s a moment of peace. But doesn’t last long until they have to once again prepare for battle.
“Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Lorde
Kady is ready to reveal all of Beitech’s secrets to the rest of the world.
