Oh man guys, it’s already time for my monthly wrap-up for July! My classes are (basically) done, so I’ll have more time for writing blog posts in August. Thank goodness! I’ve missed writing them. Despite my lack of time writing blog posts, I haven’t lacked in reading time. Or maybe I just refuse to give that up. 😂 July might have been my best reading month yet. I didn’t quite finish all the challenges for The Reading Rush, but I still read 23 books this month! So. Many. Books.
I achieved my reading challenges for the month, too! Even though I was so busy, I’m still happy overall with July. So much reading done, and so much more to do.
Without further ado, Amanda’s reading updates for July!
Reading Challenges
Though I didn’t finish The Reading Rush, I did complete the entries for the Unread Shelf and Read Harder. Yay!
For the Unread Shelf Project, the challenge this month was a book from a series on your shelf. I read:
- Spider-Man: Miles Morales Vol. 1 by Brian Michael Bendis
It’s the first volume in the Miles Morales run, and honestly, I read it so I had an excuse to want Into the Spider-Verse again.
Stayed caught up on Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge, too! I have absolutely loved reading outside of my comfort zone for these.
- A book by or about someone who identifies as neurodiverse: Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine
- A cozy mystery: Death by Pumpkin Spice by Alex Erickson
Mythology and romance are up for next month, can’t wait to find great reads for that! If you have recommendations, let me know!
Other July Favorites
I decided to get rid of the best and worst category for my wrap-ups because I’ve been reading so many great books that it’s hard to pick. 😂 So, I’ve implemented a new category! I consume stories in other ways throughout the month, so I thought I’d include a section noting some of the other stuff I enjoyed throughout the month.
Movie wise: Spider-Man: Far From Home. Oh my goodness, I loved this so much! It felt like a Spider-Man comic, and no one can convince me anyone is better at playing Peter Parker than Tom Holland. We’ll have to wait much too long for another Spider-Man movie, so I guess I’ll have to rewatch this one until then.
TV show wise, Stranger Things 3! Watched this all in one day, and it was so good! I liked the implementation of the new characters, and the plot was driven forward better than the second season, in my opinion. Steve Harrington might be my new favorite character, can’t wait to see where he goes next!
