Alex Claremont-Diaz

Alex Claremont-Diaz

I’ll be honest, I haven’t stopped thinking about Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry since I finished Red, White, & Royal Blue. Their story is so adorable and funny, and I just want to jump into it again. Who wouldn’t want to fall in love with a British prince? There’s just so much to love about this book; I’m so glad I read it.

More than the characters, there’s also political commentary and in-depth discussions about sexuality. Not a young adult book, but something I’d probably classify as New Adult. I might try to sneak in a re-read before the end of the month, as long as I get the ARCs finished that I need to for ARC August.

Anyway, Alex’s playlist is a fun, end of the summer playlist to maybe make you forget that the summer is almost over. Personally, I’m excited for fall; however, I know not everyone feels the same way. 😂 For now, listen to some fun music and read some fantastic books while you can.

Alex Claremont-Diaz Playlist

“American Girl” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

I mean, Alex isn’t a girl, but I think this song fits him nonetheless. Raised on promises and the like.

“Alexander Hamilton” from Hamilton: The Musical

Alex equates himself to Hamilton a couple of times throughout the book, and has an extensive conversation about him with Henry. It’s kind of adorable.

“Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen

Henry sings this song during their karaoke escapade and I think this is one of the moments that Alex really starts to realize that he’s in love with him.

“I’m on Fire” by the Chromatics

I think this is what love feels like, for Alex. Especially love with Henry.

“Be Calm” by fun.

Alex Claremont-Diaz gets worked up quite a few times throughout the book, and he has to tell himself this to keep a level head.

“Sleep on the Floor” by The Lumineers

This song is kind of about running away, traveling with the one you love (my interpretation, anyway). Fits for Alex, too.

“Here You Come Again” by Dolly Parton

No matter what he did, Alex couldn’t get Henry out of his mind.

“Your Song” by Elton John

This is Alex and Henry’s song, really. But it still counts, including it here.

“Heroes” by David Bowie

By the end, Alex (and Henry) are sort of a pair of heroes in their own right.

“Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship

After making it through everything in mostly one piece, Alex is ready to take on the world with Henry by his side.
