I’m at a loss for what to write for today, so you get the Summer Book Tag! This was from the Bookending Summer blog event that happened in July, which sadly I missed. July was just too busy for me. But they’re hosting one for October, which I think I’ll be able to do! I love blogging events because it’s a way to connect with new people.
So far, August has been a bit of a reading slump for me. Finding the motivation to read has been difficult, so I haven’t read with as much energy as I did in July. You’d think I’d have more motivation since classes are over, but oh well. 🤷 Maybe that will change in the coming weeks.
This tag was created by Rachel @ The Must Reads! Without further ado, a tag dedicated to the warm season of summer!
Summer Book Tag
Barbeque: A book that makes you hungry
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, though maybe it just makes me crave coffee. I honestly can’t really think of many books I’ve read that featured food. Any recommendations?
Beach: A book set in a tropical locale
The first one I can think of is Start Here by Trish Doller, which comes out tomorrow! A perfect end of summer adventure about two friends embarking on an epic sailing trip.
Outdoor Concert: A book where music plays an important role
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner features a character where music is his only escape. If you haven’t read this book, it comes highly recommended!
Picnic: A book about a cheesy romance
I don’t read a lot of cheesy romance, but the one that came to mind is To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. I haven’t finished the rest of that series, but the first one is adorable!
Lake Days: A fun, easy read perfect for lazy days
Gotta add a graphic novel to the mix, so Bloom by Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau. This is an adorable story about two boys that fall in love baking. What more could you want?
Sunshine: A book that leaves you feeling warm and happy
Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. Oh my goodness, this book was funny and adorable and I honestly already want to read it again. 😂
Ice Cream: A classic that’s perfect for long summer days
My favorite classic is always Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I read it for a Victorian Literature class back during my Master’s, and it basically reads like a YA book so it’s perfect.
Vacation: A book you wish you could visit in real life
I would love to visit Watford from Carry On, especially after just re-reading the book. I loved the world that Rainbow Rowell created in this book, and I can’t wait for the sequel next month!
Road Trip: A book with multiple settings
Again, But Better by Christine Riccio has multiple settings, mostly in Europe. Plus, how cool would a European road trip be? Not that I’d want to drive around Europe, but you know.
Block Party: A book that centers around a group of close friends
Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is about a group who maybe aren’t friends at the beginning, but this ragtag crew pulls it together in order to save the universe. Can’t wait to read more about them in the next book!
