2019 A Year in Books

Since 2019 is over, it’s time for my year in review! Like last year, I’m not going to provide a list of every book I read in 2019 because I read so many books. 200, to be exact! I think this is the most I’ve ever read in a year. At the beginning of the year, I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to read as much because of school and work. Clearly, that wasn’t the case. Between challenges and reviews, I ticked a lot of books off my list!

If you want to see a list of all the books I read this year, head on over to my Goodreads page! I’ve been good at keeping up on reviews there, too. Even though I don’t review every book here, you can keep you with me there! Check out my monthly wrap ups for a more in depth look, too! And my reviews from 2017 and 2018.

Life and Personal Goals

For those of you that have been following along this year, you know I’ve been working toward my MLIS degree. Specifically, focusing on youth services. I’m a year in, and I still think it’s the right fit for me. While I wanted to have a full-time library job by the end of the year, I’ve gotten my foot in the door at my local library! For me, this is the first step in getting where I want to go, and I’ll be able to explore this more as I continue in classes this year.

My blogging momentum kind of fell off by the end of the year, but I’m not discouraged! I’ve gotten a laptop where I can create digital art, and I’m excited to see where that can take me for my Etsy shop. I also was able to make new friends via the bookstagram community; I can’t wait to continue those friendships in the coming year!

Best Books of 2019

Similar to last year, I’m going to split this into novels and graphic novels. I’ve read a good amount of both. Plus, having two lists means that I can include more books in my post. Because it’s always difficult to narrow down my favorites, as any bookworm knows. A main difference: I read a bit more of a variety this year, so I’m not just focusing on YA. But, it’ll still take up the majority. As usual, included in no particular order.

Oh! I’ll also include a list for audiobooks. Because I listened to quite a few of those this year, and they deserve their own list!

2019: A Year in Books, Final Thoughts

All in all, I’m happy with what I accomplished reading wise this year. I hit all my reading resolutions, too! Reviewed every book on Goodreads, read 200 books, read 10 nonfiction books (my goal was 5!), and got about halfway through Spider-Man. Stay tuned for my 2020 reading resolutions, coming soon!

  1. 2019 wasn’t the best reading year for me– I started my first semester of college, which took a lot of time away from reading– but I did recently read Rayne & Delilah’s Midnite Matinee! I appreciated the unique premise, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. My mom also loved Educated, which I hope to read in 2020. Happy new year! :)claire @ clairefy

    1. I definitely know that feeling! I’ve definitely read a lot more since being out of school. I’m glad you enjoyed Rayne & Delilah! Jeff Zentner is definitely one of my top authors, and all of his stuff is great. Happy New Year to you as well! 🙂
