Somehow, it’s the end of December and it’s the end of the year. So, time for my December Wrap Up! But also time for my end of the year wrap up. So many wrap ups! I’ve been thinking about maybe doing a decade in review kind of post too, but that probably won’t come until January. I also just realized my classes start on Monday, so I’ve got to get going on those, too. Maybe life will slow down one day.
I officially made it to 200 books this month, so yay! Got there just under the wire. That means that I finished 14 books this month. If I keep up this pace, I think I can get close to this number next year, too. But only time will tell!
Reading Challenges
For the Unread Shelf Project, the challenge this month was shortest book. So, I read:
- Friends with Boys by Faith Erin Hicks
I don’t know that this is actually the shortest book that I own, but it was still pretty short.
I finished Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge, too! Yay! Last year, I didn’t do so great with keeping up with the challenges, but 2019 was my year. I read so many great books because of this challenge, so I’ll definitely be doing it next year.
- A self-published book: A Touch of Death by Rebecca Crunden
- A collection of poetry published since 2014: For Everyone by Jason Reynolds
One of these was a review request, and I’ve been dying to read this book of poetry from Jason Reynolds for a while. Now, to start planning for the Read Harder Challenge for next year!
Other December Favorites
A few other notable things happened in December! First, the new Star Wars movie came out, which I really enjoyed! I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan, but I’ve definitely enjoyed these new movies. And this one was no exception! It moved a bit too quickly at some points and I wanted more character interaction, but still an enjoyable movie!
In bigger news, I got to see Hamilton in Chicago this month, too! It’s something I’ve wanted to see since listening to the soundtrack a few years ago, and it was fantastic to see it played out on stage. I was surprised that it was basically just the songs; there weren’t that many talking scenes in the actual production. The cast did an amazing job; I laughed, I cried, there was so much to love about it!
