Oh man, it’s been a minute since I did a Top 5 Wednesday post! Today, I’ll be focusing on my top 5 anticipated 2020 releases. 2020 promises a lot of great new releases. Some of my favorite authors are coming out with new books! What’s not to like about that?
With the new year, I’m going to try to settle into more of a blogging schedule again. By the end of last year, it kind of got away from me. Scheduling time for this helped me at the beginning of the year last year, so I have faith I’ll be able to do it again! Plus, I have a feeling a lot of reading is going to happen again this year. There are things to read and things to write!
Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly Meme that was run by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey), with weekly topics posted in this Goodreads group. But they group has been on a bit of a hiatus, so there haven’t been any topics for a while. Here’s the last post I did way back in June!
Top 5 2020 Releases
Burn by Patrick Ness
If you know anything about me, you know that Patrick Ness is one of my top authors of all time. I recommend his books at work all the time, and he has a new one to add this year! His books are all so different from another, so you never know what you’re going to get. This one promises to be the same!
The State of Us by Shaun David Hutchinson
I’ve reviewed the last 2 (or 3?) books Shaun David Hutchinson has reviewed, and I hope that this trend continues in 2020! There’s just something about his books that is so compelling. And different! Some of my favorite reads have been his books, and it’s always fun to see if he connects them to his other books in any way. One of my absolutely favorite things!
Imagine Me by Tahereh Mafi
The finale of the Shatter Me series is also coming out this year! I binge read the first three books of this series in basically one trip to Florida. I’ve followed them ever since. I can’t wait to see how Mafi wraps up this series and this world. It’s sure to be a doozey.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
Obviously, if there’s another Hunger Games book coming out, it’s going to make it to the very top of my list. This is one of my favorite series of all time, and I can’t wait to see how this book pans out. Getting back into this world will definitely be a wild ride, but one that will probably make me want to read these books all over again.
Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman
After reading Summer Bird Blue, Akemi Dawn Bowman has been on my list of authors to watch. Her books are so heartfelt and emotional. I actually think I requested an eARC of this one to review. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that I get it! I would love to be able to review this book, 100%.
Honorable Mentions
Because only picking 5 books is hard, here are some books I’m still looking forward to, not included on this list:
In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner
One of Us is Next by Karen McManus
Girls with Razor Hearts by Suzanne Young
Olivia Roach says
If Patrick Ness writes it, I will definitely be reading it, and I look forward to seeing Burn hit the shelves! I am curious about the Suzanne Collins prequel but now that we know who it is going to be about I have to admit my excitement has dwindled significantly…
Amanda says
Yes! His stuff is so good. A lot of people are upset about the prequel after yesterday’s announcement, but I think it needs to be given a chance, first. She could still surprise us!
