Sarah J. Maas is jumping into the adult world! Sarah J. Maas‘s first adult fantasy, House of Earth and Blood, comes out in just a few weeks! We received an ARC at work, so we’re passing it around. That’s no small feat, though, because this book is almost 800 pages. 800 pages! Honestly, have you seen it? It’s a monster of a book. Which I just started tonight; definitely going to be my weekend read.
Anyway, here are some fantastic books to help pass the time. Easily get lost in these wonderful fantasy worlds until you can once again jump into one of Maas’s detailed worlds. Because waiting is always the worst.
House of Earth and Blood Recs
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
Leigh Bardugo’s foray into the adult fantasy world this past fall, who normally writes YA. Complete with secret magic society and a mysterious disappearance, you’ll instantly be hooked. Everyone secretly wants these societies to exist, and Bardugo brings them to life. Perfect distraction!
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
I listened to this book on audio, actually, last month and it lives up to the hype. Gideon is a part of the Ninth House of necromancers (not to be confused with the above book). Due to a tragedy in her past, Gideon is constantly trying to get away. When Harrowhawk is invited to a competition of wits and skill, Gideon becomes her swordswoman. If Harrowhawk is to survive, she’ll become immortal. Necromancers in space. Need I say more?
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Not a new read for Sarah J. Maas fans, but there’s always time for a re-read, right? While the first book isn’t my favorite, a quick, immersive read for the end of February. Filled with magic, fae, and romance, get sucked into a familiar world before jumping into a new one.
Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
This enemies to lovers story is intertwined with witches and magic. Lou and Reid are on opposites of the war. When they’re suddenly forced to marry, things get a little hectic. As a result, they’re always at each other’s throats. At least, until they might be falling for each other. But by then, it might be too late.
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
At the age of seven, Jude suddenly found herself in the Court of Faerie. Ten years late, she’s desperate to be one of them. In order to win her place at court, she has to defy the terrible Prince Cardan. And her father. As she gets deeper into palace inner workings, the more danger she’s in. Throwing herself into a dangerous alliance is the only way to save her and her family. Bonus: the entire series is out, so no waiting!
