Re-reading books is one of the most comforting things for me. Like, I know there are so many other books to read, but sometimes you just need that happy feeling from a book you really love. However, there are also those books I wish I could read again for the first time. There’s nothing like that feeling, either! All the anticipation of a fantastic story.
There are plenty of books I wish I could experience again for the first time. Since it’s kind of (almost) spring, now is a good time for firsts! And we can just dream about warmer weather.
Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time
Harry Potter
Maybe a bit of a cliche, but who wouldn’t want to go back and read this again for the first time? There are so many little plot things that were amazing to read for the first time. Granted, there are moments that I’ve forgotten about each time I re-read them, but there’s nothing like reading this series for the first time. There are so many little things that would transport you once again.
The Hunger Games
I remember the first time reading this series back in 2008. I was in a book club at our middle school and we all raved about this new book. We couldn’t get enough of it! And when Catching Fire came out, we all desperately waited in line for the ARC at the ALA conference. I read it all in one night in order to be the first one to read it before my sister. To be able to see this world for the first time again with new eyes! A dream.
Red, White, & Royal Blue
This is probably one of the more recent favorites on my list. That doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t want to read it again for the first time! To meet Prince Henry and Alex again for the first time and to experience their relationship unfolding. Plus all their friends and their fun adventures. I just want to read the book again, anyway.
Carry On
I just re-read this book last year too, and I’m sure I’ll read it again when the next book comes out. Rainbow Rowell creates fantastic characters and I would love to be able to experience Watford for the first time again, quite similar to Hogwarts. Rowell’s magic system is so unique. To see Simon and Baz’s relationship unfold in all its heart-melting glory would be pretty awesome, too.
More Than This
This is one of those books that the less you know about it going in, the better. This is why I would love to read it without knowing anything once again. To see this crazy world Ness created unfold in its layered masterpiece. I would love that for any Patrick Ness book, honestly. His books have so many specific details that would be wonderful to experience for the first time again.

From this list, I only haven’t read More Than This, but I COMPLETELY agree with all of your other picks. Those are all books that are currently on my re-read list but damn, do I wish I could read them for the first time again.

Right? If only we could drink a potion and forget and read them again for the first time.
