Happy Valentine’s Day! I was going to do a book boyfriend themed post today, but I did that last year. So, when browsing for post ideas, I came across this tag! It’s been awhile since I did a tag post, plus I’ve gotten quite a few new followers, so I thought it was time for a get to know me type post.
I’ve never really been a huge Valentine’s Day person, especially since my birthday is the day after. A.K.A Valentine’s candy clearance day, which I’ve taken advantage of on multiple occasions. I’m not really someone that tailors their reading for holidays, but I might read a cute romance graphic novel tonight!
This book tag was created by Pampered Pages and I found it over on Twirling Book Princess. Enjoy!
1. What is your favorite Valentine’s Day-themed candy?
Reese’s peanut butter hearts because Reese’s wins every holiday and just all the time in general.
2. Do you enjoy reading romance?
I actually don’t read a lot of romance, but I do read a lot of YA which tends to have a lot of romance in it. I enjoy it on occasion, though! My recent favorite has been Red, White, and Royal Blue.
3. Do you tend to read romance books throughout the Valentine’s Day season?
Not really, as I mentioned above. I don’t really tailor my reading to holidays.
4. Your fictional sweetheart shows up at your door with a Valentine’s Day gift. What is it?
Probably a book? Or coffee? If it was Levi from Fangirl, it would definitely be a coffee. Swoon.
5. How many romance books do you have that are written by the same author?
Ummm. Wow, I don’t really own a lot of romance, unless you count Rainbow Rowell? Casey McQuiston has only written one book, and I have a couple of Sarah Dessen books. Also both of Mary H.K. Choi’s books, which are kind of romance. Consensus: I have a lot of kind of romance books.
6. What is a romance book that made you cry?
The Fault in Our Stars–does that count as one? I’m counting it because I can’t think of any other ones off the top of my head.
7. If you could choose any place (fictional or real) to escape to for a Valentine’s Day date with your sweetheart, where would you like to go?
Fictional: Middle Earth or Prythian. They both seem like they would be gorgeous! Real: Somewhere in northern Europe, like Sweden or the Netherlands or something. I’ve always want to go there because it looks so breath-taking!
8. DISTANCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER: What anticipated book release do you know in your heart you will absolutely love?
Burn by Patrick Ness, Super Fake Love Song by David Yoon, Any Way the Wind Blows by Rainbow Rowell, probably a ton more I can’t think of. Jeff Zentner’s latest which doesn’t come out until next year!
9. Do you have any favorite love-themed quotes from any of the books you have read?
“Holding Eleanor’s hand was like holding a butterfly. Or a heartbeat. Like holding something complete, and completely alive.” – Eleanor & Park, Rainbow Rowell
“The way I feel about him is like a heartbeat — soft and persistent, underlying everything.” – Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Becky Albertalli
“As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.” – The Fault in Our Stars, John Green
“You were the sun, and I was crashing into you.” – Carry On, Rainbow Rowell
“That’s the choice. I love him, with all that, because of all that. On purpose. I love him on purpose.” – Red, White, & Royal Blue, Casey McQuiston
10. ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR: Do you have more books with red or pink spines?
I think red. Whenever I have to find pink books for a pink book challenge, I always have a hard time finding them. But I have quite a few red books!
