We’re currently in uncharted territory will all the information coming out about the coronavirus. So far, it means that we’re supposed to stay home as much as possible. Cue introvert readers rejoicing! Now is the perfect time to get through that TBR stack that’s by your bed or on your bookshelf. But maybe you’re looking for something else? Maybe a series to binge while in quarantine? Then I’ve got you covered!
There are quite a few YA series that ended in the last year or so, which means it’s the perfect time to read them all at once. If you don’t have copies, check out your local library. While they might be closed, many libraries are focusing on making e-resources as available to patrons as they can. I know my library is! There’s a chance a lot of these are available as ebooks or audiobooks, giving you a perfect escape. Pick these up and stay safe out there!
YA Series to Binge During Quarantine
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
This series officially wrapped up in the fall of last year, and there are 8 books in the series! That means plenty of reading material for however long we’re stuck inside. It’s essentially about one of the best trained assassins in the country working to get revenge for her family’s deaths. Magic, action, and plenty of Fae, you’ll be sucked in for a while.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Okay, so technically, this whole series isn’t out yet. The final book comes out next week. But there are 5 books before that one! Put your order in for Imagine Me and then get reading the other books in the series. People with powers fighting against a corrupted government. Seems like great inspiration for right now!
Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness
This is a series you should read anyway because the movie comes out next January! Ness envisioned a unique world where you can only hear the thoughts of men, causing conflict between men and women. This is a trilogy that I’m planning on re-reading at some point this year, and I definitely recommend it!
The Witch Boy by Molly Ostertag
Okay, maybe graphic novels are more your speed. I know they’ve been my speed lately! This is a series that I just recently read and I’ve been recommending it to everyone. About a boy who wants to be a witch in a community that doesn’t allow it, it explores a lot about gender and identity. Plus, the art is wonderful!
The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
100% if you have the ability, you should listen to this series on audiobook. With a full cast and sound effects, you’ll be transported to this world almost immediately. Plus, there’s an amazing squad that comes together over the three books, and consequently, it’s also about exposing a corrupt government. Seems to be a theme, here. Either way, this is one of my favorite auidobook listens from last year and I always recommend it to people looking to get into audiobooks!
