It has been a long time since I’ve done a Top Ten Tuesday! So, I figured it was about time for a new one. Today we’re looking at authors with a fun social media presence. As someone pretty involved in the Bookstagram community, this seems like a great way to promote some of my favorite authors. They’re definitely authors you should be following, if you’re not already!
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently run by The Artsy Reader Girl. If you haven’t checked out their posts yet, you definitely should! I’ve been doing them since January and have enjoyed each one. Check out my last one here!
Authors with a Fun Social Media Presence
1. Patrick Ness (Instagram)
He’s only on Instagram now, but his Instagram posts always make my day! Whether it’s a funny post, a serious post, or an inspirational post, there’s always something great from his Instagram profile. Bonus, he’s been talking about the Chaos Walking movie a lot lately. Which I can’t wait for!
2. Rainbow Rowell (Instagram, Twitter)
Rainbow Rowell tweets a lot about her books and interacts a lot with fans on her social media accounts. She also makes playlists for all of her books, which are fantastic. As one of my favorite authors, I love seeing her stuff on both sites.
3. Shaun David Hutchinson (Instagram, Twitter)
If you’re a fan of books and baking, you’ll definitely want to follow Shaun David Hutchinson! He crafts delicious looking creations that he updates readers with pretty much every weekend. Seriously, he seems like a fantastic baker!
4. Jeff Zentner (Instagram, Twitter)
Jeff Zentner almost always responds if you tag him in Instagram, which is a great way to connect readers and writers. Plus, he’s almost always promoting another book or sharing his own poetry. These kinds of author interactions make you feel like you’re not just shouting into the void. They make you feel appreciated.
5. Adam Silvera (Instagram, Twitter)
Adam Silvera’s friendship with Angie Thomas and Becky Albertalli on social media is honestly goals. Author friends all supporting each other and writing books together sounds like the perfect life. I guess in order to get there, I’ve gotta get going on some writing projects, first.
6. Nic Stone (Instagram, Twitter)
I think it was last week that Nic Stone did a whole hair history in her stories that was absolutely fantastic. She talked a lot about her natural hair and the variety of things she did in order to get to have fun with it. She goes to a lot of schools and stuff too, and it’s always fun to see where she’s going next!
7. Angie Thomas (Instagram, Twitter)
I love getting insight into authors by following them on social media. For example, Angie Thomas talks a lot about her love for basketball and gets really into it. Like Adam Silvera, she also interacts with fellow authors online, and it’s always great to see authors supporting other authors.
8. Becky Albertalli (Instagram, Twitter)
We get to learn more about the Simon-verse through Albertalli’s social media accounts, and she’s great about sharing art from her readers and followers. People create some really beautiful fan art out of it and it’s always great when authors share it!
9. Brigid Kemmerer (Instagram, Twitter)
Not only just Brigid Kemmerer share information about books and her writing, she also shares her crossfit journey. She’s encouraging of readers in all aspects of her life, and shares a lot of fun stuff regarding her books. Definitely worth following!
10. Lin-Manuel Miranda (Instagram, Twitter)
He has a book out so I’m counting him. But Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of the best people to follow on Twitter because he’s so uplifting to his followers. And is always promoting other diverse creators and voices.
