April is the month of readathons for me! I’m currently doing the OWLs Readathon, and the Stay Home Reading Rush is this weekend. Plenty of reading for me! I’m halfway done with my TBR for the Reading Rush. It’s been hard to find motivation for the week of 4/11, but reading still happened! Specifically, audiobook reading.
Here is a list of the books I read between 4/11 and 4/17. Audiobooks galore! But really–so many audiobooks. Starting to move into the books I already own, so checking those off the list!
Check out previous week’s reviews: 3/21, 3/28, 4/4
Bite Size Reviews: Week of 4/11
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare (4/11)
The second installment in the Infernal Devices series which is full of all the emotion! Seriously, Jem, Tessa, and Will have probably become some of my favorite characters. After the events of Clockwork Angel, Charlotte and the gang find themselves being challenged by Clave, despite the threat of the automatons. Will is looking for a way to break the curse and Tessa and Jem’s relationship starts to heat up. All the Shadowhunter books should be set in this time period (5 stars).
Starsight by Brandon Sanderson (4/12)
After learning more about the aliens keeping them on their planet, Spensa and the other humans devise a plan to learn more about them. So Spensa goes undercover on the planet of the Krells. The best part of this book is the expansive world-building. We get so much more of this space world, and the stakes are somehow even higher. I can’t wait to read the next book (4.5 stars).
Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds (4/14)
This was a re-listen for me as one of the challenges for the Read Harder Challenge. If you’re looking for a poetry book to listen to, I highly recommend this one. Jason Reynolds narrates it himself and it’s the perfect book to listen to in one afternoon. Plus, it’s just a powerful book overall. A commentary on gun violence and race (5 stars).
Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw (4/14)
Nora Walker is a part of a family who has always overseen the dangerous, dark wood in Fir Haven. When she discovers a missing boy in the woods, she sets off a series of events that puts the woods in danger. Especially since she starts to fall for the boy, who has secrets of his own. This is a slow-burn kind of book, full of magic, mystery, and nature. If you’re looking for a fairy tale-esque story, this is definitely the one for you (4 stars).
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare (4/17)
Another audiobook that I finished this week! I marathoned the end of this one because I had to know what happened! So many emotions in this book, honestly. We learn what Tessa really is, learn more about the automatons, and just generally get more about the Shadowhunter world. It’s happy and sad and it’s a beautiful ending to this series (5 stars).
