Review: Chasing Lucky
Thanks to Simon Pulse for sending me a copy of this to review! Unfortunately, there’s bad news. This book was originally slated to come out in May; due to COVID-19, it has been pushed back to November. I’m still writing my review because I need it fresh in my mind, but I’ll share it again closer to the publication date!
Anyway, I’ve gotten to review Jenn Bennett’s last few novels and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them! This one felt like Serious Moonlight to me, which is probably my favorite of her books. The characters are really what pull me into these stories. Josie and Lucky had such chemistry on the page, but they also existed outside of their relationship. You’re definitely rooting for them right from the beginning.
The setting does a lot for this book, too. Honestly, whenever I read about these beach vacation towns, I just want to run a bookshop there. Josie and her family are lucky [pun not intended]!. It also makes for great romance settings. Sail off into the sunset!
The only thing that really rubbed me the wrong way about this book was the emphasis on virginity. I get that it’s YA, but there were just parts that felt too heavy handed to me. Other than that, this was the light-hearted read that I needed right now.
A delightful summer romance that will warm you up when it comes out this November.
4/5 stars

Yes, that’s exactly why! Which makes sense, but it’s still sad. 🙁

Great review! I’m bummed about the new release date, but I’m like you and already reviewed it. I’ll just have to remember to share it again.

Thank you so much! And yes, it’s quite a jump in time. 🙁 All the more time to promote it, though!
