Guys, next week is The Reading Rush! Basically, a readathon hosted by Booktubers focusing on reading challenges throughout the week. I’ve been participating for 3 years now and I love it. Especially now that they’ve incorporated a lot of events outside of Booktube. If only I would have timed my week off of work better to fit in all the reading challenges! However, I’m confident that The Reading Rush 2020 is going to be a success.
I think I actually finished all the books I had planned for The Reading Rush last year. It always helps that my summer semester wraps up at the same time, and I’ve finished most of my assignments already. Here’s what I’m planning on reading next week!

1. A book with a cover that matches the color of your birthstone.
The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junauda Petrus. My birthstone is an amythest, since I was born in February, and this one has some purple on it!
2. A book that starts with the word “the.”
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. I got this one in an Owlcrate last year and I have yet to read it!
3. A book that’s inspired a movie you’ve already seen.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews. I watched the movie a few years ago will the full intentions of reading the book. However, I never got around to actually reading the book.
4. The first book you touch.
Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim. For this one, I just put a bunch of books in a pile and closed my eyes. This is the one that got selected!
5. Completely outside of your house.
Witchy by Ariel Slamet Ries. I always feel like picking graphic novels for these ones where you have to be in one spot is useful. I can usually get them done pretty quickly!
6. A genre you’ve always wanted to read more of.
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. I’ve always wanted to venture more into the horror genre, and I guess I’m going to do that now!
7. A book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. Takes place in England and is being pitched as a similar book to Red, White, & Royal Blue. Sign me up!

I look at The Haunting of Hill House come Halloween time but I never ended up reading it, maybe this year? How’s the readathon going for you so far?

It was different than I was expecting, but I bet it would make a great Halloween read! The readathon is going well! Officially on Book 5. 🙂 How about for you?
