Review: Power Divided
Thanks to the author for sending me a copy of this book to review! As a fan of dystopian literature with awesome female leads, this was right in my wheelhouse. I’m also very much a character reader, and Behr created characters who were spot on. Her writing style is fluid, easy to jump into, and just detailed enough that you can really escape into this world.
Though the book shifts gears about halfway through, I was also impressed with the pacing of the story. Behr keeps you guessing throughout the book, gripping you in the story and making it difficult to put down. The world building was also well done, not dumping too much information on the reader but giving us just enough to make the story easy to follow. Behr’s writing skills are on full display in this first installment of the series, hooking the reader to want to continue the next books in the series. I know I want to!
All in all, fans of young adult dystopian books like The Hunger Games, Shatter Me, and The Selection will definitely enjoy this YA dystopian story. With a fresh take on a popular genre, let’s hope we get more from Behr in the future!
