Happy Tuesday, friends! While I was trying to come up with a blog post topic for today, I remembered this tag that I saw! It’s based on one of my favorite books I’ve read so far this summer, Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron. If you like fairytale retellings, I definitely recommend this one! It’s unique and magical and a wonderful book to round out the summer with!
Anyway, I saw this book tag over at the Cotton Candy Book Witch and decided to take a turn at it! Here are the rules of the tag:
- Thank the person that tagged you and link to their post. Linking to the post from Mel @ the Cotton Candy Book Witch!
- Link to the original creator: Leelynn @ Sometimes Leelynn Reads
- Answer the questions to the best of your ability. No wrong answers here!
- Tag some people you think would have fun doing this tag.
- Copy-paste the rules and prompts.
Cinderella Is Dead Tag
Sophia: Favorite Sapphic Book
A recent read, but I’m going to go with We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia. Intrigue, spying, rebellion, romance, what more could you want in a book? I listened to the audiobook, and I think that’s the way to go. It really brings the characters to life.
Erin: Book that Hurt You the Most
I’m going to go with A Phoenix Must First Burn edited by Patrice Caldwell only because I wanted these stories to be longer! That’s one of the reasons that I don’t often read anthologies because there isn’t enough time to get connected to the characters. And once you do, they’re done! If you haven’t yet read this book, it should be on your radar!
Constance: Favorite Loyal Character
Hmm…I’m going to have to go with Felix from Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender. He’s so loyal to his best friend, and I love it. I loved all the characters in this book, actually. They were so well done. I can’t wait for my physical copy to get here, since I listened to the audiobook from the library.
Amina: Book that Made No Sense
Sorry Jason Segel, but your book Otherworld made no sense to me. It was difficult to get into, the characters weren’t great, and the world building was sub par. I definitely think Jason Segel should stick to acting instead of writing.
Luke: A Forgotten Series You Want To Read
The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken! Admittedly, I’ve read the first book, but I’ve had the rest of the books for ages. After reading the first book, though, I can’t wait to see what happens next! Definitely a series on my radar before the year is up.
Lille: Favorite Magical Kingdom
To go outside of the box, I’m going to say the kingdom in The Brilliant Death by Amy Rose Capetta. They created a unique magic system in this book, and I found myself really getting into this Italian-based kingdom they made. I know there’s a second book, and I’m going to have to get it from the library because I need to know what happens next!
Manford: The Absolute Worst Character Ever
Who to pick? I’m looking at my bookshelf, and the book that jumps out is I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver and Ben’s parents. Their parents can’t accept that Ben is nonbinary, so they kick them out of their house. They try to make amends, but they just can’t accept Ben for who they are. Characters like that are definitely the absolute worst.
Cinderella: Favorite Retelling
Probably the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. I just love what she does with the fairytales that we all know and love and spins them in this science fiction world, especially in Cinder. This was also a series that took me forever to get to, but I’m glad I did! Cinderella Is Dead is also a new favorite, though!
