Happy Tuesday, reading friends! This week we’ll be talking about books I loved but never reviewed. I’ve been meaning to do more Top Ten Tuesday posts, so here we are! Maybe I’ll try to do them for every second Tuesday of the month. There was a time when I was more consistent with when I posted content, and my goal is to get back to that! You know, outside of all the reading I do. And my crazy work schedule. Time management is key!
For the purposes of this post, I’m going to focus on books that I haven’t reviewed on my blog. Many of them have short reviews on Goodreads, though!
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently run by The Artsy Reader Girl. Check out my last one here!
Books I Loved But Never Reviewed
1. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
I read this before I really got into reviewing books on Goodreads (where you can find short reviews of everything I read!). This is one of my all-time favorite books, but I’ve never written a formal review for it. For me, it’s just one of those books that stays with you.
2. Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall
A new favorite, but one that I’m sure I’ll read again! One of the main reasons I picked this up was because it was compared to Red, White, & Royal Blue. Which is one of my newer favorites as well, but I’ve reviewed it on my blog. This book had me laughing out loud, which is rare. I loved it so much!
3. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
After reading A Monster Calls, Patrick Ness quickly became one of my favorite authors. There isn’t anything I’ve read from him that I haven’t enjoyed. Including this trilogy! I started re-reading it this year, but got distracted. Maybe I’ll finish it before the end of the year (and the movie comes out!).
4. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I remember reading this in high school and loving it. We read it in the book club I was in and everyone couldn’t get enough of it. For me, it felt so unique because of the narrator; plus, the story is just so compelling. I think it’s safe to consider this a YA classic.
5. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
I feel like John Green is hit or miss in the online book community, but I love him. In high school, I fell in love with his books and even got to meet him in Grand Haven! I remember when this book came out and I read it basically in one day. I love Hazel and this book still holds a special place for me.
6. The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima
So many of these books were high school favorites for me. Like this one! I think I’ve read it like 3 times. There’s just something about the world that Chima created that I love. And the characters are so compelling. I haven’t read it in a while, but I might have to revisit it! When I work through some of the large TBR sitting by my bed.
7. Graceling by Kristin Cashore
Another high school favorite! Cashore is actually publishing another book in this series in the next year, which I can’t wait for. I might have to re-read the other books before the new one comes out, though. It’s been a while since I read these too. If you need a great fantasy adventure book, definitely check this one out.
8. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
If you’re looking for a literary thriller with an awesome female lead, I definitely recommend this series! I haven’t read the newer books that were published after Larsson passed away, though. I’m curious if they live up to the original trilogy. If you’ve read them, feel free to let me know in the comments!
9. Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman
Akemi Dawn Bowman is a recent find for me, but I’ve loved all her books. However, this one is my favorite. It’s so lyrical and is such a realistic exploration of grief. Bonus, it has an absolutely gorgeous cover! Just like every Bowman cover.
10. Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis
Another recent favorite! I think there’s a good balance included here–old favorites and new. This one I read back in June and it was such a unique world. Such a fantastic cast of characters, too. They would do anything for each other and they are desperate to win their freedom. Plus, the writing is wonderful.
