Tomorrow is October! How? Honestly, I love October; it’s probably one of my favorite months of the year. Fall colors, apples, and chilly weather. Perfect reading weather! I did a lot of reading in September, including a lot of reviews. I’m almost caught up on my Net Galley reviews, so yay! There are so many great books coming out this fall, and I’m so glad I’ve gotten to review them. I’ll include links to them in my September 2020 Wrap Up!
I am also making great progress on reading YA starred reviews, for the committee I’m a part of. There have been some great books on that list that I’m happy to have read!
Reading Challenges
I stayed caught up on these for the month! I’ll be participating in a readathon for October, which I’m excited about. It’s Supernatural based and looks like it will be super fun! More on that in a post later this week.
The Undread Shelf prompt for this month was a book you’ve own so long you forgot where it came from. So, I read:
- The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
I’m not sure how long I’ve had this book, but it’s been a while! It was such a great atmospheric read.
For the Read Harder Challenge, we’ve got some shorter reads for the month:
- SciFi/Fantasy novella: Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
- Picture book with a human main character from a marginalized community: Crown by Derrick Barnes
Some excellent diverse reads, both checked out electronically from the library! I’ve used the elibrary so much in the past half a year, and I’m so glad it exists.
Other September Favorites
My mom and I are really close to finishing Psych, which is hilarious. If you have Peacock, I recommend checking it out! Especially if you’re looking for a new comedy show to watch. I’m finally getting around to watching the rest of the Star Wars movies, so we watched The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I also watched The Devil All the Time, mostly because Tom Holland was in it. But it was still pretty good! There’s a great cast, and it makes the perfect October spooky season movie. Oh! I’m also re-watching New Girl because I just needed something happy.
