Wow. October was quite a month. It felt like I kept going and going without any breaks. But I’ve had some job interviews, and I’m hopeful that something good is coming in the near future! I’m actually super excited about the prospects, especially since I’m going to be finished with my degree in December. Maybe something good will still come out of 2020!
Anyway, it feels like I didn’t do much reading in October, but I actually did a decent amount. I just didn’t stick to my TBR as much as I wanted to. Which is fine! TBRs are always hit or miss for me, I’m not really setting one for November because it just gave me anxiety last month. The rest of the year is just going to be pleasure reading.
Reading Challenges
Even though I didn’t finish all of my books for the Supernaturalathon, I did hit my other reading goals. Yay! I think I can still hit my unreadshelf goal before the end of the year, as long as I stop getting massive stacks of books from the library. But we all know that’s probably not going to happen.
The Undread Shelf prompt for this month was book that scares you. So, I read:
- Horns by Joe Hill
Horror isn’t my thing, so this definitely fit the bill! I’ve seen the movie, so I did know what was coming, for the most part.
For the Read Harder Challenge, we’ve got a little variety:
- By or about a refugee: Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
- Middle grade not set in the US or UK: The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste
I’ve gotten some great diverse reads so far this year, and that’s a trend that I’m planning on working on more and more in the future. So stay tuned!
Other October Favorites
My mom and I finished Pysch in October! Such a fantastic show. It was so funny and just what we needed right now. We’re also watching The Great British Baking Show. We’re still continuing with our Star Wars watching, too. We watched: The Phantom Menance, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens, and The Last Jedi. So many movies! I’m also still re-watching New Girl because I needed something light-hearteded and funny.
