Who else is excited about A Sky Beyond the Storm? I’m officially listening to An Ember in the Ashes again in preparation. I love listening to the audiobooks because the narrators are just fantastic. They really bring you into the story, and what a story it is. I honestly can’t believe it’s going to be over in just a few weeks! Fully ready to get my heart broken.
If you’re looking for something to keep you occupied until then, never fear! There are so many great books that will help keep you distracted until you know the end of Laia and Elias’s story.

There Will Come a Darkness by Katy Rose Pool
After the prophets disappeared, chaos followed. As everyone waited for the one that would save them from the Age of Darkness, five people are on a collision course because of the prophecy. The second book just came out and it’s just as good as the first! Lots of characters locked in a fight to stop the chaos from coming.
The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen
Fie is a Crow, looked down upon by the rest of society. Protected from the plague, but destined to take of those that get it. When she encounters the prince, he presents an offer she can’t refuse. Not if she wants to save her people. This duology has such a unique magic system that you’ll be sucked in from the beginning. And since the second book came out this year, you can binge them in one weekend!
Or a slow burn romance between enemies?
Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Lou has been hiding her magical talent from the Church for the past two years. Reid is a soldier for the Church, hunting witches. When their paths cross, they find themselves married. As the war wages one, maybe their connection is the only thing that will bring peace. There’s another book out for this series too, one that I haven’t read yet. But great romantic tension for sure!
We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
Zafira is a Hunter, disguised as a man to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, ruthlessly assassinating anyone that goes against the crown. Both are hiding secrets. Both need to find the artifact before the other, an artifact that could bring back magic. I’m actually super excited because I got an eARC of the sequel to this! I can’t wait to read it, honestly.
Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim
Maia dreams of being a tailor, but unfortunately that’s a man’s job. However, when her father is invited to a competition for tailors, she disguises herself as a boy and goes in his place. When she gets the attention of the court magician, her path becomes even more dangerous. A magical, fairy tale like book that will definitely sweep you off your feet.
Maybe you just want to be transported to another world.
Six of Crows by Leigh Badrugo
In Ketterdam, anyone can find anything for a price. Kaz Brekker knows that better than anyone. When his crew is offered the heist of a lifetime, Kaz can’t pass it up. Ketterdam is a dark world, but one that’s easy to quickly get lost into. Plus, there’s a crew that you can’t help but love right from the beginning.

Tarisai has always wanted a family. Growing up in isolation, the only connection she had was with her mother, the Lady. When the Lady sends her to the capital to be chosen as the Crown Prince’s Council. What Tarisai doesn’t realize is that she’s a part of a plot for revenge. This is such a unique fantasy story that pulls you in right from the beginning. Unique and magical.

Annie and Lee were children when the revolution overturned the world. Now, they’re both training to be dragonriders, at the top of their class. But when survivors from the revolution come back, everything changes. This is such an underrated fantasy book about dragons that should be on everyone’s radars!
Perhaps you’re just looking to start a new fantasy series.

Katsa is born in a place where some people have Graces. And her Grace just happens to be killing, forced to use them as the King’s enforcer. At least, until she meets Prince Po, who shows her that life could be different. There’s officially another book coming out in this series in January, so now is the perfect time to dive in!
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
Magic has been long forgotten in Mytica. Though there’s been peace, conflict bubbles below the surface. As leaders fight for power, four key players will immerge to help bring back the peace. All of the books are officially out for this series, and there are a lot of them! Plenty to keep you occupied until December!
Scythe by Neal Shusterman
Humanity has conquered every illness, making everyone immortal. So, they invented Scythes, who act like death, randomly keeping the population under control. Citra and Rowan are chosen as the latest trainees. And they’re about to change the world. This is one of my recent favorite dystopian series, and now you can binge all three books! And trust me, you’ll definitely want to.
Or maybe you love rooting for an underdog.
The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune
Nick Bell doesn’t have powers, but he’s determined to get them. After all, it’s the only way he can possibly keep his family safe. Even if his best friend (and maybe true love), Seth Gray, doesn’t think it’s a great idea. Nick is definitely an underdog, but he will fiercely protect his own. Plus, there is just a great group of friends here you can’t help but love.
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
All Juliette needs is one touch to kill someone. So, she’s been kept in isolation for as long as she can remember, for her protection. When she’s reunited with someone she once cared about, maybe she’ll finally find the strength to fight for herself. This series is finally all out, so you can binge it to your satisfaction. And you’ll probably want to!

In a city overrun by monsters, there’s no such thing as safety. Kate is a monster hunter and August is a monster. When their paths cross, they find themselves fleeing for their lives. This is a dark story, but there’s so much great world building and the characters are fully developed. Another underrated series!
