We’ve reached the end of January! Which means it’s time for my January 2021 wrap up. It’s honestly felt like the longest month ever. Don’t ask me why, it just did. But February always goes by quickly! Plus, February is my birthday month. Yay! I’ve also got quite a few books to review in February, so stay tuned for that. Also, I read 32 books this month! Which is crazy. I definitely should have upped my reading goal for this year. Maybe I still will!
Anyway, here’s to a great reading year! There are also lots of great books coming out this year that I can’t wait for. Plus, hoping to delve into comics more. Which might happen in February. Depends on what I can get my hands on from the library.
Reading Challenges
I am once again participating in the Unread Shelf Project and Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge for 2021! I’m also going to attempt the Read Native Challenge from the American Indian Library Association, though I haven’t quite started that yet. Planning on it in February!
For the Unread Shelf Project, I finished the first challenge: high expectations. So, I read:
- Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
I had seen all kinds of things about this book and I am happy to say it lived up to my expectations!
For the Read Harder Challenge, I read two books:
- Book You’ve Been Intimidated to Read: Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
- A Nonfiction Book About Anti-Racism: The Talk by Wade Hudson
All in all, it was a great bunch of books! One of my goals for the year is to read more diverse than I did last year, so I’m trying to be more conscious of the books I’m picking. So far, I’ve done a pretty good job, I think! And I have the whole year to do better.
Other January Favorites
So what have I been watching? My mom and I finished Downton Abbey, which I really got hooked on. It just has such great characters. I loved it. WandaVision also started, which I’ve been super hyped for! So far, it’s definitely living up to expectations. I honestly have missed Marvel movies, and this is helping a bit! I’ve also started His Dark Materials on HBO which is great so far. As far as movies go, we watched The Midnight Sky, the new Mulan, and I’m currently watching Spider-Man: Far From Home just because I felt like it. I’m in a Marvel mood!
