So Valentine’s Day is on Sunday! It’s not necessarily my favorite holiday, but other people like it. Plus, the day after is my birthday! I suppose that’s a bit more exciting. The day after is also chocolate clearance day, which is when you should really buy your Valentine’s chocolate. Because chocolate at 50% off is always better.
Anyway, today’s post is going to focus on YA romances! If you’re looking for a little romance as we lead up to Valentine’s Day, definitely check out these books!

Valentine’s Day YA Romances
1. You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
I might seem like a broken record when it comes to this book, but I just loved it! It’s about a girl who enters a prom queen competition to earn a scholarship for college. What she doesn’t expect is to fall in love with the competition. This is such a fun rom-com to read for Valentine’s Day!
2. Frankly In Love by David Yoon
Let me tell you, this book isn’t quite what it seems on the surface. It looks like a fun, fake dating rom-com featuring Korean American Frank Li. However, this delves into tough topics like parental expectations, cultural expectations, and finding your place. This is David Yoon’s debut, and I promise you won’t be able to put it down once you pick it up.
3. Not So Pure and Simple by Lamar Giles
In order to get in with Kiera, the girl of his dreams, Del joins a club at church. What he doesn’t realize is that it’s a Purity Pledge. But it could work in his favor. He strikes up a deal with fellow pledger Jameer to put in a good word with Kiera as long as Del shares information about sex education. Though this book is about a relationship, it’s also about toxic masculinity and society expectations.
4. As Far As You’ll Take Me by Phil Stamper
Marty is ready for a new start. This is why he’s flying all the way to London from Kentucky to escape his conservative parents. However, he quickly finds that the lies he used to get there are coming unraveled. Does he have what it takes in order to stay in London? Or will he end up back home?
5. Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki
In this graphic novel, Freddy has finally ended up with the girl of her dreams: Laura Dean. But their relationship isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. So, Freddy goes to a medium to get relationship advice. However, it isn’t what she wanted to hear. Maybe it’s weird to read a breakup book for Valentine’s Day, but this is a gorgeous graphic novel worth all the praise.
6. Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender
Felix Love just wants to be in love. When he’s deadnamed at school, he starts catfishing the guy he thinks did it. However, instead of enacting punishment, he just falls in love with him instead. But maybe, what he really needs was in front of him the whole time. First relationships are always messy, and Felix definitely embodies that.
7. Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett
After an awkward first encounter, Birdie and Daniel end up working together at an old hotel in Seattle. It’s there they start down a mystery about a famous, secluded mystery author. And just maybe, the sparks will fly again. Part mystery, part romance, part adventure, this is a swoon worthy romance you’re sure to love.
8. Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Rowan and Neil have been rivals all throughout high school. Now, they have one last competition: the annual senior scavenger hunt. But in order to win, they might just need to work together. And when they work together, they might just fall in love. Your classic enemies to lovers romance sure to sweep you off your feet.
9. Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Allbertalli
Leah is a bit of an outsider in her friend group; she’s self-conscious and unsure of herself. She’s also not out to them as bisexual, which becomes complicated when she falls for Abby. With college looming on the horizon, Leah has to decide if she has the courage to be herself and tell Abby how she really feels.
10. We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia
Women are trained to be the perfect wives at the Medio School for Girls. They’re put into pairs: one wife runs the household and one produces children. Daniela is the top student of her class, but in order to keep her status, she has to work for the resistance. When she gets to her new house, she also doesn’t expect to fall in love. With her fellow wife.
