We’re continuing with my series of TV characters reading YA! Last month, I did Schitt’s Creek which was a blast. I can’t wait to re-watch that show again. But, I’m currently in my re-watch of The Office, so it’s the perfect time for this post! The Office might be one of the shows that I’ve watched the most, maybe next to New Girl. That post will be coming in the future!
I might have to branch out into other genres of shows if I’m going to continue these posts. Let me know what kinds of shows you might want to see in the comments!

The Office Reads YA
Michael Scott: 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey
Michael is always about learning how to get other people to like him. While reading books like this probably won’t really help, he’d definitely read them anyway.
Dwight Schrute: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Dwight would definitely be all about the latest craze in YA fantasy. Outside of his farming, he’s always talking about fantasy books and shows. I have no doubt he would be into this! And many of the other epic fantasy series like it.
Jim Halpert: Check Please! by Ngozi Ukazu
We know that Jim loves sports and doesn’t really seem like much of a reader, so it’s a sports and graphic novel combination. This would be the perfect thing to hook his attention for just long enough.
Pam Beesley: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Pam would like the book club type books, ones that she could have an in-depth discussion about. I think this is one of the ones she’d read and never stop talking about.
Angela Martin: Live Fearless by Sadie Robertson
Angela isn’t a fan of fiction or anything else, so she’d be more into the devotional side of things. Maybe she wouldn’t necessarily be reading teen devotionals, but maybe she would!
Stanley Hudson: Down and Across by Arvin Ahmadi
Stanley is always doing crosswords at work, so it makes sense that he’d love this crossword themed book! Even if it would mean taking his time away from actually doing his puzzles.
Phyllis Vance: A Court of Thorns and Roses by SJ Maas
We all know that once episode when Phyllis was listening to 50 Shades of Gray. She’d definitely be into these steamy books that aren’t necessarily classified as YA.
Kevin Malone: Superman Smashes the Klan by Gene Luen Yang
Kevin doesn’t strike me as a reader, so he’d definitely be into the graphic novels. I think he’d go for more classic stories, about superheroes. Easier for him to then also go watch the movie.
Meredith Palmer: Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angline Boulley
Even though Meredith seems likes someone who doesn’t really read, I think she’d keep up on celebrity book club picks. And this is Reese Witherspoon’s recent one for YA!
Oscar Martinez: The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger
Oscar would definitely be into the classics. He’d brag about all the classics that he’s read and how smart they make him. This one would definitely be on his list.
Toby Flenderson: One of Us is Lying by Karenn McManus
Later in the show, Toby starts to write his own mystery books. So, he’ definitely be interested in reading all the mystery that YA has to offer. Or, just the really popular titles.
Kelly Kapoor: The Selection by Kiera Cass
With her love of celebrity and romance and reality shows, Kelly would love The Selection series. It combines a lot of her favorite things in one book series! All the drama that she craves and loves.
Ryan Howard: Feed by MT Anderson
Not only would Ryan like the social media aspect of this book, but he’d also like it because it’s told in a different format. And he likes looking like he’s someone smart.
Creed Bratton: Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis
We never really know what Creed’s life is like outside of the show, but I think he’d relate to Alex, the main character of this book. He probably knows how to hide a murder.
Darryl Philbin: The Avant Guards by Carly Usdin
Like Jim, Darryl loves sports and doesn’t strike me as much of a reader. He’d love these graphic novels about a basketball team, though! He’d probably recommend it to Jim, also.
