Summary
Mia has always dreamed of being a ballerina. So, when she lands a spot in a prestigious summer program in Paris, she leaps at the chance. Now, she has six weeks to achieve her goal of getting into a ballet studio. Six weeks to focus solely on ballet. After all, dancing is in her blood. One of her ancestors was supposedly a dance model for Degas.
What Mia didn’t plan for was a summer romance. But she can’t help but fall for Louis, the French boy desperate to show her around Paris. Together, they might even uncover secrets about Mia’s family’s past. Mia knows that she’s supposed to be in Paris to focus on ballet, but what’s the harm in a little summer love, too?
Review: Kisses and Croissants
Thanks to Delacorte and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this to review! Not only is the cover of this debut absolutely adorable, but it matches the story inside. For anyone looking for cute romances to read over the summer/spring break, I definitely recommend this one!
Like many teen romances, it’s not difficult to guess the plot of this one. What makes it great is the characters and the setting. And the ballet! While I never was really going to go into dancing professionally, I did take dance classes up until high school. I loved seeing Mia work so hard at something, and her hard work definitely pays off.
The romance between Mia and Louis is also perfectly heart-melty. Part of it is owed to the fact that they are in the city of love and get to go on cute dates. However, they also just have great chemistry on the page, right from the beginning. Those looking for an escapist romance to put them in a good mood will definitely find it in this book.
Fans of Love and Gelato, Again, But Better, and Just One Day will absolutely love Jouhanneau’s debut.
