Hello friends! Today we’re going to talk about found families because it’s one of my all-time favorite tropes in books. Someone who’s a little bit of an outcast finds a group that accepts them? Definitely up my alley. Everyone deserves to surround themselves with people that accept and support them, and that’s what these stories are all about.
This is partially in preparation for my buddy read for June, The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune! My friend Meghan and I are hosting a buddy read over on Instagram, so join us if you’ve been wanting to read this book! I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Favorite Found Families
The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
Linus finds the perfect found family in this book. At the beginning, he was perfectly content to live on his own with his cat. But once he meets Arthur and company, everything changes. There’s no way he can leave this cute little family on the island. And there’s no way you’ll want to leave them, either!
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
The Crows are absolutely their own little found family, watching out for each other. They’re the reason this duology is my favorite of Bardugo’s, just because she brings them to life so well. Plus, seeing them in the show was just perfect. This is definitely a series that I will keep coming back to.
The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis
This book is getting a sequel later this summer! But this is a western style dystopian book, with a group of girls desperate to make it out. They all have each other’s backs, and are really the main reason that they’re able to achieve what they do. I definitely recommend reading it before the sequel comes out in August!
The Sky Blues by Robbie Couch
Sky’s family doesn’t accept who he is, so his best friend’s family kind of adopts him. They’re the ones who look out for him, give him shelter and support. This is one of the reasons I adored this book. Sky’s found family is the best, and I would love to read more about them, honestly.
On a Sunbeam by Tillie Walden
Not only is this a gorgeous graphic novel, but I loved the story in it as well. It’s about a little space crew that flies through space and fixes up ruins across different planets. Of course, the crew is one of the best parts about this book, outside of the artwork. Plus, I just love pretty much all of Tillie Walden’s work.
