Hello friends and happy Wednesday! I still can’t believe that it’s May already, where has the time gone? However, that does mean warmer weather, which I’m really excited about. And that brings us to the theme of today’s post! April showers bring May flowers! In other words, we’re going to be talking about books that have flowers on the cover!
I feel like flowers have definitely been a trend in YA recently, so it’s going to be difficult to choose my favorites. There are just so many great ones out there!

Top 5 Wednesday: April Showers Bring May Flowers
1. Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean
This book actually comes out on the 18th, but it has a beautiful blue cover with some gorgeous paper art. Specifically featuring yellow flowers! Tokyo Ever After follows the story of Izumi, who lives in a small California town with her mom. For the most part, she’s been content with it just being her and her mom, until she finds out that her dad is actually the crown prince of Japan. As she learns more about her dad’s world, will she be courageous enough to live as royalty?
2. Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender
Not only does this book feature a lovely flower crown, it’s also one of the only books I’ve seen proudly featuring a trans character on the front. It’s bright vibe definitely fits well for spring/summer. Felix Ever After follows Felix, who just wants to fall in love. When photos of him pre-transition are posted at school, he’s desperate to get to the bottom of it. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for the guy he’s catfishing.
3. Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
True to the title of the book, the cover features both flowers and snakes. But they work so well together! Especially against the white cover. Girl, Serpent, Thorn follows the story of Soraya, a girl whose touch is poisonous. When she makes a deal with a demon to make her normal, the consequences end up being darker than Soraya could have ever imagined.
4. Home is Not a Country by Safia Elhillo
There are so many flowers on this cover! Flowers that really make this book in verse pop. And match the powerful story within. Home is Not a Country follows Nima, who doesn’t feel like she fits in anywhere. When she has an argument with her best friend, Haitham, she no longer feels grounded. Now, she’s haunted by the life that could have been.
5. Ghost Wood Song by Erica Waters
This is another one of those books that definitely fits the content within. Creepy and gothic, completely atmospheric. Ghost Wood Song follows Shady Grove, who inherited the ability to call ghosts with her music from her father. Which ultimately led to his death. When her brother is accused of murder, Shady might have to use her ability to clear his name. If she can survive the danger, first.
