Quinn’s family has been in the wedding business forever. Her family does the planning and works close with Tarek’s family who does the catering. At the end of last summer, Quinn admitted her feelings for Tarek, and then silence when he started his first year of college. Now, she’s uneasy about the possibility of seeing him again.
This summer, Quinn and Tarek are back working together again. Thrown together to help out with wedding emergencies, they clash at first. They don’t get along at all. However, Quinn can’t deny that she still has feelings for him. And just maybe, Tarek has feelings for her too. If they both can be brave enough to take the first jump. And if Quinn can trust herself to fall in love.
Review: We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This
Thanks to Simon & Schuster for an advanced copy of this to review! I previously reviewed Today Tonight Tomorrow also by Rachel Lynn Solomon, and I was super excited to read this one. Romance is lovely to read in the summer and this one is perfect for those summer vibes!
If you’re looking for Jewish representation in YA books, you’ll definitely want to check out Solomon’s books. Quinn and Tarek have some great conversations about that throughout the book, and just about culture and religion in general. They have such a strong bond throughout the book, and you’re kind of rooting for them to be together from the beginning. So swoon worthy!
The side characters throughout are also well-developed and add to the conflict in the story. Quinn’s family is so important to her, but she doesn’t know how to break the news that she doesn’t want to be a part of the wedding business. Their family relationship is so strong, though, and it’s clear they’re super supportive of each other.
For the most part, the OCD rep was pretty well done in this book too. Quinn talks about her thought spirals, something that a lot of people don’t associate with OCD. We definitely need more books like this.
If you’re looking for a summer romance with a lot of heart, definitely check out this book when it comes out June 8th!
