I don’t think I’ve done a Top Ten Tuesday post since last month, so here we are! This post is specifically about my Summer 2021 TBR! There are so many great books coming out this summer that I can’t wait to read. Actually, so many came out this month, too! I’m mostly caught up on my reviews for June book releases, so yay! There are a few more to do, so stay tuned for those in the next few weeks.
When I was in school, summer used to mean so much reading. Which now, I read all the time. So summer isn’t really all that different. Minus all of the fantastic books that always come out in the summer!
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently run by The Artsy Reader Girl. Check out my last one here!

Summer 2021 TBR
The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He
Set in a future ravaged by climate change, Cee and Kasey are sisters trying to survive in this new world. However, Cee has been trapped on an island for three months, and it’s up to her sister to find her. If you aren’t drawn in by the cover of the book, the premise should hook you! I just got this from the library and I can’t wait to read it.
Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo
This book picks up where King of Scars leaves off, with Ravka on the brink of destruction. Even though King of Scars wasn’t my favorite Grishaverse book, I’ve heard great things about this book. I don’t think it will top my favorite duology, Six of Crows, but I have hopes! Even if it is almost 600 pages.
This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron
After reading Cinderella Is Dead last year, I can’t wait to dig into Bayron’s latest book. Bri has a gift to bring seeds to flowers with just a touch. When her and her family move out to the country, Bri thinks she’ll finally be able to hone her gift. But their new house has a sinister past, one that Bri has to figure out in order to save her family.
The Witch King by H.E. Edgmon
Wyatt is on the run after accidental magic has ruined his marriage to the fae prince, Emyr. He thinks he can find escape in the human world. But Emyr isn’t going to let him go that easily. There aren’t that many fae books lately in the YA world, and I’ve only heard good things about this book. I just bought it and it will definitely be going higher on my Summer 2021 TBR!
Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson
You Should See Me in a Crown was one of my favorite reads of last year, so I can’t wait for this book. Olivia is ready for a romance-free weekend with her best friend at a music festival. Meanwhile, Toni is heading there to find inspiration for her future. Once they’re there, Olivia and Toni have to band together to get what they’re looking for.
Rosaline Palmer Takes the Cake by Alexis Hall
Just as everything seems to be falling apart, Rosaline lands a part on the nation’s most beloved baking show. Now is the chance for her to turn her life around. What she doesn’t expect is to fall in love while she’s there. From the writer of Boyfriend Material, a baking competition themed romance seems just like what I need right now.
The Ghosts We Keep by Mason Deaver
Everyone keeps telling Liam that everything happens for a reason. However, Liam just keeps feeling more and more alone, especially as their friendships start fading away, too. So, they start spending more time with their brother’s best friend. Who might just understand what Liam’s going through. We always have to have one sad book on the Summer 2021 TBR, right? Always need that balance.
XOXO by Axie Oh
Jenny has been dedicated to her cello from day one. But a chance encounter with Jaewoo has her rethinking everything, until he leaves to go back to South Korea. However, when Jenny and her mother make their own trip there, she runs into Jaewoo again at the music academy. Where she learns that he’s part of one of the biggest K-Pop bands in the world. This one sounds perfect for summer!
Lumberjanes by Noella Stevenson
We’ve always got to get a comic series in there, so I’m finally going to knock this one off my TBR. This series follows five friends who spend their summer at Lumberjane Scout Camp. A group of teenage girls solving mysteries and saving the world, what isn’t to love for a summer graphic novel read?
Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales
The final book on this list, though not the final book on my (never-ending) TBR. Darcy Phillips runs a love advice column for her school. When she’s threatened to be exposed by Alexander Brougham, she agrees to help him get his ex-girlfriend back to keep her secret. All sorts of romantic drama, so again, exactly the perfect book for summer!
