We’re back with another TV character inspired post! Today we’re featuring Psych, which I just watched for the first time last year. Thank you, Peacock! It’s a comedy show about a private detective named Shawn who pretends to be pyschic. It’s hilarious and fun and perfect if you’re looking for something to unwind to. There are plenty of great laughs to be had in this show!
I’m running out of comedies to do, so I’ll have to switch to a new genre! We’ll see what I come up with next month.

If Psych Read YA
Shawn Spencer: Batman Nightwalker: The Graphic Novel by Marie Lu
Shawn doesn’t really strike me as a reader, but I think he would definitely be into the graphic novels. Especially the YA ones that DC has been putting out. I think he’d probably love Batman, and Marie Lu does a great job in this graphic novel to bring the character to life. It’s short enough to hold Shawn’s attention, too!
Burton “Gus” Guster: Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
Gus is known as a bit of a nerd, and I think his reading habits would reflect this. Specifically: fantasy! A King Arthur re-telling filled with magic, intrigue, and mystery. Determined to get to the bottom of her mother’s accident, Bree joins a secret magical society. There are so many elements that Gus woud love about this novel!
Carlton “Lassie” Lassiter: The Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
Lassie would definitely read mysteries to keep up his skills as a detective. This is one of my favorite mysteries I’ve read in the last year. It’s about a girl who takes on a mystery as her senior project, determined to uncover the truth. Lassie would probably figure it out towards the beginning, but also maybe not!
Henry Spencer: I Am Still Alive by Kate Alice Marshall
Outside of police work, Henry does a lot of fishing and outdoor stuff. He would be into outdoor suvival stories I think. This book follows Jess, who has to survive in the wilderness after her cabin burns down. To get revenge on the person who burned down her cabin, she has to survive the winter, first.
Juliet “Jules” O’Hara: Meet Cute Diary by Emery Lee
Like Chief Vick, I think Juliet would love cute YA romances. Meet Cute Diary definitely fits the bill! Noah writes a blog about real life trans meet cutes that might not actually be real. When someone threatens to expose his blog, he starts a relationship with Drew, a cute boy he met at a bookstore.
Chief Karen Vick: Instructions for Dancing by Nicola Yoon
I think Chief Vick would look for something that would provide an escape from all the police work she does. Nicola Yoon is a great author for this, and her latest book is her best one yet! About a girl who’s skeptical about falling in love, but ends up falling in love during a dancing competition. Even though she gains the ability to see the end of every relationship she witnesses.
