Review: It All Comes Back to You
Thanks to Quill Tree Books for sending me an advanced copy of this to review! I loved I Hope You Get This Message, so I was excited to get to this new rom-com. I am happy to say that it definitely didn’t disappoint!
Even if we get a typical rom-com kind of plot, we do get some twists that make the plot more exciting. Not only do we get the romantic tension between Kiran and Deen through their past relationship, they’re also talking to each other through their favorite video game. Rishi slowly gives us the whole story between Kiran and Deen, and I think the pacing was pretty much spot on.
At first glance, this seems like a romance, but the plot also turns into something much different than that. We do get Deen and Kiran’s relationship from the past, but we don’t get much romance between them in present day. They both were really hurt in their past, and they have a lot to work through. As a reader, you’ll definitely be rooting for them to eventually get back together, though!
What I also really liked about this was the glimpse we get into Islamic wedding traditions. I feel like we don’t get that a lot in YA, and it was really refreshing to see.
All in all, if you’re looking for a romance that isn’t super romance heavy (does that even make sense?), definitely check this one out. You’ll love the story, and fall for the slow burn romance/relationship/friendship at the core of the book.
