Review: Ski Weekend
Thanks to SparkPress for an advanced copy of this to review! Survival thrillers aren’t always my favorite genre, but it is a great genre for spooky season. If you really enjoy survival stories, you will definitely want to keep this one on your radar!
Ross does a great job creating suspense throughout. At first, the group of teens aren’t very worried about their situation becuase they are sure that they will get rescued. As time goes on, though, it’s clear that no one as coming. You can feel their rising panic thorughout the book, creating more suspense and things gradually get worse. The pacing of the book also makes it a really quick read.
However, I didn’t feel a lot of chemistry between the characters themselves. For most of the book, they felt more like teen stereotypes rather than realistic characters. I wanted most of them to be more fleshed out, rather than based on one aspect of their personality. The lack of chemistry definitely took away from the story for me.
Even though the chemistry didn’t vibe for me, if you’re in books for the suspense, you’ll enjoy this one. Ross nailed the suspense aspect of the story. Fans of survival thrillers will find a lot to like in this book.
