Summary
Kang Dae generally prefers to spend his time alone. So when his new bubbly neighbor, Bo Seon, moves in, he’s not exactly happy. Especially when he constantly tries to befriend him with cookies and other things.
But slowly, Kang Dae realizes that maybe he doesn’t mind Bo Seon so much. As they both become closer, something more than friendship starts to bloom. Will they both be able to overcome their past to an exciting new future?
Review: To the Stars and Back
Thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown Ink for an advanced copy of To the Stars and Back by Peglo to review. Honestly, I always have to check out books that have a comparison to Heartstopper. This one I’d say has a pretty similar feel, so if you like Heartstopper, there’s a chance you’d enjoy this, too!
I’m not sure if the Webtoon of this story is finished yet, but I’d say this is the definition of a slow burn. You know that something romantic is brewing between Kang Dae and Bo Seon, but it takes them a long time to realize it themselves. If you like the small moments of a relationship blooming, this book has so many of them. I loved getting to see Kang Dae’s panic as he realizes that his feelings are changing, and trying to figure out if Bo Seon feels the same way. I can’t wait to see how their relationship evolves in future volumes!
The art in this was also fantastic. You can see the influence from manga, and the color work is so nice. Plus, Peglo shows the emotions through the characters in the illustrations, through their actions, and through the writing. It all just works so well together.
This is one that I will definitely be continuing once the next volume comes out.
