Body TalkSummary

Everyone experiences the world through their body. Yet, none of those experiences are exactly the same. Through our bodies, we tell each of our individual stories. Although our bodies are unique and different, there are similarities that allow us to connect with one another.

Through 37 different voices, Body Talk explores a variety of perspectives that make up our bodies. From actors to writers to models everyone’s body contributes to their identities in different ways. Nonetheless, these experiences are also what can connect us to other people. Thus, join in this exploration and celebration of everything our bodies can do!

Review: Body Talk

Thank you to Algonquin Young Readers for sending me an ARC of this to review! As someone who listens to the Hey YA Podcast (when I have time), I was excited to check this book out! Honestly, there are a lot of great voices represented throughout this book. And a lot of great perspectives! Everyone will find something they relate to in the stories presented here.

There are a variety of formats throughout the book. There are stories about disabilities, stories about mental health, stories about hair growth and gender identity. Honestly, there’s so much that you can find in this book! It’s clear that Jensen, as the editor, really worked hard to provide a large array of representation through the stories she chose.

Also, this book is about acceptance. Finding your place. Even learning to accept that you’re not just like everyone else. And that’s okay! In fact, it’s more than okay. Included throughout the book are different definitions as well.

All in all, this anthology was really well done. From the design to the content, there wasn’t anything I was unhappy with. It deserves all the praise!

4.5/5 stars
