Summary

Kieran has always been told to stay away from werewolves, especially since one killed his mom when he was a kid. But when the new kid at school, Mason, starts, Kieran can’t help but feel an attraction toward him. Until he learns that Mason is a werewolf.

Both of their families wouldn’t want them together. But Mason and Kieran can’t deny that there’s some sort of spark between them. The question is if they are brave enough to pursue it.

Review: Love Bites Vol. 1

Thanks to NetGalley and Webtoon Unscrolled for an advanced copy of Love Bites Vol. 1 by Alicia Wallace to review! If you secretly wanted Jacob and Edward together in Twilight, I’d say that this is the book for you. Vampires and werewolves are definitely making a comeback in the YA realm, and I’d say that this book is 100% proof of that.

I haven’t read the book that this is adapted from, but I’ll admit that I’m curious! They’re publishing a new edition of it at the same time this graphic novel comes out this fall. The art style used for the graphic novel overall fits the story well; I enjoyed the incorporation of some of the manga style elements as well.

There’s some great romantic tension in this book, too. Both Kieran and Mason are convinced they’re straight; as readers, we know better. In addition to Kieran and Mason, we get some fantastic side characters who help in building out the world that Wallace has created. In a way, they help build the relationship drama, and build the tension between Kieran and Mason.

Be warned, this volume does end on a pretty big cliffhanger, so I’m interested in seeing where this story goes next! Because Kieran and Mason definitely need to resolve their differences and realize that they’re crazy for each other.

4/5 stars
